Today's 12z GFS shows a realistic transition from NW flow to split flow to W trough over the next couple weeks.   Wouldn't be surprised to see an evolution like that play out, with a cold shot this weekend, a warm up with a cutter next week, a final cold shot around the 20th and mild air flooding in afterwards

Wouldn't mind an evolution like late Feb. 2017. Couple of gorgeous days, followed by kitchen sink winter storm, followed by another warmup with severe weather.

ILX is total weenie for my area.  I'm sure it was an error but it did wake me up when I saw it.
