This thing is booking, think we’re looking at a 960mb landfall.

Kind of a weird looking storm on IR too. Core looks decent, but rest of the storm looks like hot garbage on IR. Suspect its probably a product of sun/heating, but not sure.

That was one of the funniest moments in tropics history

There is a generation of spoiled hurricane kids who were born into a high-speed internet Katrina world. They didn't grow up like me checking out hourly tropical updates on the Weather Channel watching storms fail over and over in the 1990s.

Wow can't believe it's not a category 69 rn clearly will be a tropical depression at landfall. Nothing like Sandy!

I mean it’s going to be a dangerous storm, I just don’t understand the mania and everyone losing their heads over it. It looks far enough west to spare New Orleans the worst.

I remember when updates were only once a day with the local weather at 6 pm. This was before TWC.

How about my time.  1960's and 1970's  No weather channel No cable and No Satellites and radar. Totally different world than now where we have forums like this and instant recon data etc.

It meant you were unpure and being punished

Lol. I've always been interested in how ancient people experienced natural disasters for the first time. Imagine being a European colonist just settling in some tropical paradise in the Caribbean, and then you get hit by an eye of a major hurricane. Like that's gotta be a real "wtf is happening?!" moment.

I remember when black and white radar came to our local station. It was awesome when storms showed as a big white blob.
