Same. What a beautiful day after roasting all last week. Getting in some grilling and smoking for the week's meal prep.

Although I can still feel the residual heat radiating from the brick of the house, today is like day and night compared to the last couple days.  Temp has yet to reach 80 here and dp finally dropped below 70 this morning.  The atmosphere is still unsettled so despite some early sun, the clouds have rolled in and it's generally been overcast since (although that is probably keeping the temp down too).

Currently 77 and overcast with dp 67.

That was as that last line was moving through and I did catch a screenshot of the TORW around 10:30 pm last night.

Got down to 68F overnight. I turned off the AC yesterday, so last night was the first night sleeping with open windows for some time. Still haven't heard any katydids yet.

No? They were out last night. And w/the A/C off, windows open and cool temps it was great sleeping.

Cicadas jamming today as well...

I always thought of them as an August critter, maybe showing up the last week of July? Beautiful day outside!!!

Could be. I was also listening for the tree frogs you and Stemwinder were discussing. I heard the usual frogs in my creek while mowing on Saturday.

Same pretty much, late July early August. Hell, maybe this recent heatwave and rain brought them out early? But overall August is when all critters get together and make their own sound....critter Woodstock.

I only started hearing them around here about 5 or 6 years ago. Don't know much about their migration habits, maybe I'll look it up!

100% agree that is about when I started hearing that weird frog call. Also had a couple of them living on the deck railing at that time after never having observed them. I had put a water bowl in an old unused open style wooden bird feeder and the frog stayed around for maybe a month. Very strange.

Could it be a "beneficial" Chinese invasive species for a change?

I did a little research, they seem to be native to the US east coast and se Canada. Couldn't find anything about a big migration or population explosion or anything like that, so for now it's a mystery.

Been hearing katydids in the nearby woods for several days.  Tree frogs are silent tonight.  Saw a tiny one trying to climb outside wall, thinking that it's a tree no doubt.  Cicadas are around, but not noisy.  Maybe this will be a quieter year, after their more numerous cousins had the stage here.  Waxing moon is appearing spooky in tonight's sky, due to the fires out west, perhaps.  Gonna be a good night for sleeping.

Those lazy hazy crazy days of summer. 87F here currently, DP a reasonable 71.

I'm done doing anything outside for the day, A/C is on. May say hello to the critters later tonight but that's about it.

Maybe some storms tomorrow than a drier DP period not a tropical rainforest Thurs on ...

Looking forward to it, for a couple of days at least. This week overall is much better than last week dewpoint wise.
