Tomorrow high is forecast at 93, record is 94.  Let's see if we make a run.  If we make it to 94 it would be the first record high in August since 1995!

August 1995...:axe:

Tomorrow is the easiest record high in August to break or tie, the earliest of 4 days in August with a record high of 94. I guess if we have a shot, I’m in.

I was born January '95, so I don't remember, but was told how hot it was.  Also, that was the last year we hit 100.

Anyway, NWS bumped tomorrow's temperature to 94.

And lots of ground moisture for the sun to crank up the dew point too if it so much as even peaks around a cloud.  Totally awesome weather to work in while I clear a huge oak that fell in the backyard starting tonight, unfortunately.  :violin:

What would limit the temperature rising that high is the high humidity levels.

Wonder if we get at least a heat advisory tomorrow.  There is a glaring hole on the hazard map, but typically NWS Pittsburgh, lol.

Would think so. Isn’t the criteria a heat index of 100? My point & click has me at 93/73/102 at the peak and 4 hours of a heat index at or above 100. If that’s not a heat advisory, what is?

Yeah, but still that is serious for the elderly and those with breathing difficulty.

No disagreement from me on that one. NWS forecast discussion mentions it as “borderline” for headline issuance, with “upper 90s” heat indices. But their point and click (at my location) shows a heat index of 102 and the zone forecast for Allegheny County says “heat index up to 104”. I’m not saying they shouldn’t issue one, just trying to come up with a reason they haven’t.

No it makes sense why.  I’m still skeptical we get above 92.

Storms have washed out the last two afternoons more than they were expected to, and although tomorrow looks less conducive for storms than either yesterday or today, the NWS is hedging their bets.

Getting very cloudy.  Probably going to be tough to even hit 90 if the clouds don't break quickly.

Should be some clearing this afternoon, but I agree, our chances of tying or breaking a record seem very slim. Need 10+ degrees from 11:30. Max at PIT so far is 83. It probably isn’t impossible to pick up 7 degrees this afternoon, but I would think 11 is a bridge too far, even if we had full clearing.

We'll struggle to 90 today.  Maybe the NWS shouldn't have triggered the Heat Advisory.  They jinxed it, lol!
