Those ground level stations are located in the local neighborhoods. The Corona Queens station has a high today so far of 101°. It’s avoiding the breeze of the water that is currently keeping LGA cooler.

yup my thermometer just recorded 93, I'm 4 miles SE of JFK, but in an urbanized neighborhood.  The houses in the area sort of block the sea breeze lol (2 miles north of the ocean.)

Way way way early. That’s a decently mixed 70 too. We are loosing our cool water hurricane buffer as water temps are now peaking near 80. Once we get constant 80 it’s a game changer for hurricane threats

I dont like cold oceans, the earlier we can hit 70 the better

Local temp readings can be so subject to where exactly they are located. I can move mine 5 ft. away and get a 1 degree lower reading or higher reading.

It’s close to average for the past 10 years

at 101 now, after a brief dip. Corona, & Tremont were 102 at one point. Also, a few traffic lights going out intermittently. Same time as the emergency alert came through for NYC, to limit all power uses as much as possible

I'm a little confused as to how we could be close to a major outage when most office buildings are still significantly underpopulated; you'd think that AC use in these buildings would be limited. When I worked in the Rockefeller Center during the July 2019 heat wave they shut down the AC and suggested that everyone leave.

I doubt that happens. It’s almost over anyways
