Yea, its beautiful.  There is another SP in MD very much like Cowans Gap when it comes to the lake, trail, and beach.  Greenbrier SP near Hagerstown.    We do usually enter Cowans Gap the way you suggested...turning onto the access road off route 30 at the peak of the chain there.  That drive alone is worth the time.  When up there Friday that area still had 4-8" of solid, full snow cover.

Wow that’s amazing there was that much snow left up there. It is a high altitude. Yeah the ride up to the top is cool with all the twists and turns. Great views of McConnellsburg and beyond on that side. I’ll have to check out Greenbrier. Always enjoy checking out new parks

Bring a few sheckles.  Car of 4 gets a little pricey.    The lake and lake walk are so similar that I frequently have to think about which one I am at when walking around it.

I do not have JB's exact statement in front of me but maybe he meant to say all of the US except the east?  At least for Mid March.  Rest of the US is freezing for last half of March.

Yep cold is positioned Northwest and then south. This looks like a classic SE RIDGE! Summer Time.

As a lover of cold and hater of the heat, 60 is about the sweet spot for me from now until fall. Give me one week of 80s while on vacation though.

I'm good with that - basically anything over 70 I get too hot when doing any kind of ourdoor work.

Somehow I played football in 105 degree, 80 percent humidity days for years and years and years. Funny how you adjust to the climate you live in.
