Can you share the Twitter name? I've been trying for my wife and I've gotten through 3 times only to have someone snag her selected time slot each time. It's frustrating it doesn't hold thr slot while you fill out information

Thanks!

Also try Walgreens/CVS in the 6-7:30 am timeframe. I was lucky to schedule one for me and my two relatives this morning. For Walgreens Type "Maryland" instead of a city and it will give better results. Also set up an account ahead of time for Walgreens. CVS if you get to the appointments screen it allows you to finish and won't kick you off like other sites do. Good Luck!

Anyone following this supposed resurgent Wizards team?

Have started to more.  I wasn’t fully on board with shipping wall but Westbrook seems to be hitting his stride now (and now Houston’s tanking).  Beal is special and if they could find a true third scoring piece, they’d be dangerous.  Only 2.5 games out of 4th in the east!

Cool stuff! 7 channels is slim pickings.  I remember the rabbit ears and we only got 2/11/13/54/5 /67.My Brother and I only had a zenith b+w family tv until we were around 9 or 10 ( friends all had color )then we got a color tv along with MTV lol. Cable must have been cheapo in Baltimore in the early mid 80s because our poor asses didn't have any doe .

When I was young, before the cable came to our area, we could pick up one TV channel clearly: WJAC channel 6 from Johnstown, PA.  It was an NBC affiliate.
We also had a party line telephone.  It rang all the time, but only some of those calls were for us.  If you picked up the phone you could hear others’ conversations.  If you needed to make a call, you could ask the others to relinquish the line.  Sometimes they did.  A lot of times they didn’t.

I worked alot up in Williamsport,  Montoursville,  Mansfield and all the little whistle stop towns along 15 north of Williamsport in the mid late 90s Installing alarms, CCTV, safes etc in banks up there.  That whole area was definitely easy going and behind the times.  I remember getting pints of Yuengling for 50 or 75 cents on the regular.

Williamsport is my hometown...and I bolded the key part of your quote, because it's spot on. :) I have always said Williamsport is a nice place to grow up and grow old but it IS one of the most beautiful areas of PA and even the country -- I still miss those mountains and the West Branch Susquehanna Valley. It's also a great place if you like more snow than we get in these parts -- they still do pretty well annually along that Williamsport-Mansfield stretch of Rt.15.

The one I hated the most was Max and Ruby. Swear I wanted to slap Ruby every single episode. She was so bossy to Max. And for some reason you never ever saw their parents. Occasionally they visited grandma. Also Lazy Town was just horrible. The Miss J’s loved it when little.

i'm sorry  missed all this fun yesterday, I was refereeing some basketball for a good part of the day.

Has anyone seen the show that they replaced Caillou with?  "John Dillermand", Look it up.

People born after 1970 missed out on some cool stuff. You remember TV programs being advertised in color because it was a big deal?

I remember watching the Lost In Space reruns as a kid and wondering why season 1 was shot in B&W, while seasons 2 and 3 were in color. Now I'm all, "UGH, isn't that movie streaming in 4K yet??"  :D

Absolutely I remember.  Used to frustrate me that I wasn’t able to see it with our B&W TV.

We were a typical family though.  It wasn’t until 1972 when a majority of the TV sets sold in the US were Color TVs.  My folks bought one a year later, a 15” floor model, for $300.00.  It was a big deal for us.

Party line telephone???

In rural areas where phone lines had not yet reached full penetration, party line service was offered as a subscription.  These were lines that serviced anywhere from 5-20 households.  Each subscriber had their own dedicated ring.

At our house, one long ring followed by two short rings meant a call was coming for us.  A neighbor would have a different ring sequence, so you didn’t answer those.

Since it wasn’t a private line, if you picked up the phone you could listen to others’ conversations.  Etiquette said that if you broke into the conversation to announce you had to make an urgent call, the other parties would wrap up their call.

I had never heard of such a thing. Thanks for explaining.

I’m preparing myself for the day when I’ll have to explain all of the old school technology to the kids.

Explaining Blockbuster and dial up internet will be hilarious

In 1995, I dropped a couple grand on an HP Pavilion 5030 desktop “multimedia” computer.  It featured an Intel Pentium 75MHz processor, 8MB RAM, and an 850MB hard drive.
With the 14.4kbps dialup, it took about 10-12 minutes to load one model map.  I remember waiting for hours late one night to see all the parameters on the ETA run leading up to the ‘96 blizzard.

Well, since y'all drug me into the Wayback Machine this morning...anyone grow up with this? I hit the rink anywhere from 2-3 days/nights per week, from the beginning of middle school right up until my mid-20s. This was actually great exercise...and it was a lot of fun getting stuck in the middle of the shuffle skate pack.  :)

This discussion brings back memories of using Netscape navigator in the high school library in 1998. One webpage took 2 minutes to load and it was just text.

There was no Google. The existing search at the time was really terrible and you couldn’t find anything. You would search for something school related and get search results for viagra.

Google was really amazing when it first started

Lol.  I remember well.  We had a couple of elderly women who lived down the road.  They were the embodiment of the gossiping gaggle....think of the front desk woman at the Columbia Inn in White Christmas....always on the line talking.  My older brother and sister would put me up to getting them off the line.  Once i told them our barn was on fire and needed to call the fire department to clear the line.

In those days you could call the local radio station for lost pets, items, song requests with messages, etc.andvthey would announce on air.  Me and my best friend would phone-in (funny?) pranks to WFTR in Front Royal and howl aloud when they read them on air.  Our best was my lost cow alert.....  Brown and white, silver bells around it's neck, one horn, and from neighbors report it hopped the fence and was heading west towards town.  We laughed for days after that one was announced.  Several kids at school the next Monday were talking about hearing that on the radio.  Lol.  That was a different time.

Or sometimes when taking a "private call" meant stretching the phone with the longest cord, whether it was phone to the wall, handset to the main set, or a combination of both, as far as you could and calling out the click when someone else got on the line.

Then there was that rotary dial thing.

Those effing cords never ever broke lol. Just took incredible abuse . Nowadays phone charging cords last a month

Cordless in the early 80s changed everything.  Except you would break the antenna within a month. And you'd have to put aluminum foil on the nub just to get reception.

Yep, we called in from two different numbers with 6 different people asking the DJ to play Barracuda one night, he (the DJ) got quite ticked off....

The last 24 hours of banter has been quite strange...can we get back to strictly beer posts please lol

We spent yesterday afternoon up at Independent Brewery in Bel Air. I can’t wait for things to get back to normal so they can use the Funk House for its original intention, making funky sours. Great afternoon though and we are really glad we got outdoors for the 8 hours it hasn’t been raining.
