I feel the GFS is not handling this well as far as qpf is concerned. It's underdone IMO. CMC, GFSv16, and ICON all give NYC metro 1.5+ and GFS is only .60 or so. It doesn't make sense just like it didn't make sense with Dec 16/17th storm.

That’s still some cutoff north of the city, will possibly be very sharp cutoff on the northern end but think it will be further north than that.

The ensembles show a reasonably wide range of solutions. This is far to one side of average likelihood... but still not quite the best case scenario. 

got to wonder when the last time was we had a 36 hour storm of any type.

yeah he's definitely not a "regular working guy" and can afford to lose a few (billion).

as for this snowstorm is concerned, we definitely dont seem to have a margin of error anywhere near as large.
