Totally ripping and turning white now.

I feel like lower areas like the Willimantic River still do a lot better than a similar elevation in  the Connecticut River valley in an event like this.

proximity to higher elevation hills and towns also reaps benefits, orographically or otherwise (depending) compared to equal-elevation spots that are surrounded by generally low elevation regimes.

I could make inter mountain west examples but nobody cares here ;)

I feel like this first round may be best I-90 north. Has that look on radar. Showery and slotty south entering CT now. The euro tried to fill this in later so I guess we will see.

New 18z HRRR agrees with it filling in south and weakening north....but yeah, just looking at radar right now it looks like Ray's area would do better than my backyard.

Yup, we had a really impressive heavy burst pass through coated up the street, now more light stuff and we lost our street coating. If anyone needs help breaking down this technical analysis DM me.

Interesting. Of course the one model on its own may be right lol

Guidance tries to fill this in as it moves east into the deeper colder air, so I could see both arguments quite honestly. But you are talking maybe a 2" max vs 3-4" max for this first part. Not exactly impressive.
