I remember this VIVIDLY. Was in Chicago for the week for work meetings. My beard was absolutely frozen walking around and the lake effect squalls in Indiana made the drive suck. I think Chicago got down to 4° at one point

MSP is crushing it with 2.8” on the day from the legit snow squall.

17.6” on the books for the 20/21 season. Anyone else in the subforum besides maybe Will or Bo have more?

Duluth is at 20" at the moment. And that's nearly a quarter of our seasonal avg.

Meanwhile while we are all arguing in the covid thread, has anyone noticed that we could get some serious winds with this next storm on Sunday?

Edit: and some serious waves too. NWS has up to 21(!) feet on Lake Superior later on Sunday. This is going to be a classic November Great Lakes storm.

Doesn't quite bomb out but close to it.

Should be a decent shot of garden-variety thunder in many areas later Saturday, too, with the decent lapse rates and 50-70KT low level jet.

Crazy how nature try’s to balance itself out like that but it definitely does more times than not. Love the 2nd picture with the snow cover and tree with leaves on it still. Something about deep snow and trees with their Fall color going on makes me think of winter just getting started with lots of cold and snow to come.

Going to be quite the event for the west-east oriented lakes tomorrow. Erie is the one that should be most favorable for long fetch.

Yeah, I'm in the max zone here too. They just started a project to help with water spilling over into the streets of Hamburg. Doesn't start until summer.

Yeah its not everyday you see 25+ ft waves on Lake Erie. The Upper Lakes sure, but Lake Erie? And what's even crazier is that at least part of the shore will be expirincing them too, unlike Lake Superior where they tend to stay out in the lake itself. At least the lake levels aren't quite as high as they were a year ago, still going to cause a ton of damage though. Also a huge difference of water height too, as Buffalo will be over 7.5ft above lake datum while Toledo will be over 7.5ft below lake datum. A classic Witch of November.
