As modeled by some of the mesos, there is a pretty impressive line of convection advancing northward into southern VA.

You gotta wonder if this ridge dominant pattern is going to continue through the peak. The long range could be brutal if this keeps up.

Unfortunately it will continue right through winter...

Not the prettiest IR presentation right now but convection is firing near the center. Need to see if that will wrap and wall itself off from dry air.

I kinda like the comma shape.  cloud tops look awesome on satellite

Looking forward to the orographically enhanced tropical rains up on Mt Manchester?

Dw, no fringing with big rain events!

I’ll get fringed by the tropical. While you are 75 and sunny I’ll be 50 with clouds.

Once again, it looks like Isaias is trying to fire convection on the northern edge of the center, and is trying to wrap that around to create an eye. It's not there yet, but you can see how it is slowly trying to get it together. I expect it to happen as it turns NNE and aligns itself better with the shear vector and trough.

Just took a look. Not bad at all.

I gotta say I'm pretty excited for this one! Haven't really had any real tropical whether since Sandy and even that underperformed. :D

So the storm just NW of Fredericksburg is basically right over my house atm. We have picked up about 0.25" in about 3 minutes......it's absolutely pouring.

ETA: and now its severe warned and the wind has all of a sudden picket up as well, blinding rain almost.

That blasted through my area in Northeast North Carolina a few hours ago with very impressive winds. I was shocked actually. Dumped almost 3/4 an inch of rain in about 20 minutes. According to most of the global models that's about all I should receive from this event. Obviously that's going to be incorrect. Can't wait to see some heavy rain reports from the DMV. Break out the choppers!!  I'll be on the lookout for tornadoes in my area.
