Elizabeth City, NC is at 98/78/116 right now, and Edenton NC is at 112 heat index. I don't ever think I've heard of an East Coast heat index over 116.

I am in New Bern and we have had HI's above 120 before. It is rare but it does happen.

We are currently at 93/80 with a HI at 112. Earlier today I was at 96/80 for a HI at 116.

Pretty rainy the past couple of days here in Hickory, and the rain chances remain fairly high for the remainder of the week. I received over half an inch of rainfall on Sunday and over 1.5 inches on Monday IMBY. Rain chances from NWS GSP for my area are 70% or greater for three out of the next four days. The humidity is high...

Could use some rain here...this heat has quickly dried everything out. Got to 100 yesterday before cumulus developed. Athens and Macon got to 102. Been more clouds today so shouldn't be quite that bad today.

Norfolk 100+ for the third day in a row

Also the high minimum record for 7/21 was tied at 80F and that record was set just last year. There have been 16 high minimum records set in July at ORF just since 2000 and another 3 were set in 1999. There’s no global warming though.

It’s brutal outside   Most of the barn work is done in the early morning, the horses and myself are sweating just standing in the shade. Not the first drop of rain or an outflow boundary to cool things off either :(

Nice line of storms starting to erupt from SW to NE along the I-95 corridor.  Should be plenty of instability.  Hope they reach me.

They propagated almost literally right to my door, and then stopped.  I got 0.04" while a few miles away got over an inch.  Very frustrating.

Wow, 2 days in a row with thunderstorms like the good old days.  Huge, crackling lightning, brutal winds and torrential rains.  Good stuff.....except the part about the massive tree damage, blocked roads and I still have no idea where my two deck umbrellas are.  May need to fly the drone to find them!

Three days ago Chris Justice on WYFF talked about the possiblity of strong storms coming in around 1:00 on Friday, saying he thought the chances were at about 80%. Well, he was spot on. It's been raining for about 1 1/2 hours at my house. So far, we've gotten 1.45" and it's still coming down. I understand it's flooding in parts of Taylors. Temp down to 71.
