With 2 weeks left in the month, another thing to watch going forward for ORD will be whether they can pull off a 10"+ month.  It has happened only 8 times out of 1792 months on record for Chicago.  4 of those have occurred since 1987.

It may have been mentioned before, but all of this rain in the GL region is not going to be welcome to those with Lake Michigan lakeside properties, especially with the seemingly persistent strong winds we've been experiencing this spring. I read somewhere that the mean lake level has gone up 5 1/2 feet since early 2013.

Total and complete devastation here. Going to pull an all-nighter to try to save my parents basement. Thought installing the sub pump in 2015 would help, but this has overwhelmed it. This is sickening. So f*cking tired of this, year after year...

Been there done that (trying to save a basement).  Wears you down mentally and physically.  Best of luck.

Difference is the major lack of thunder/severe this time around.

COVID put the kibosh on any Plains dreams I might have had this year, anyway. Of course last year's 3,000 mile round trip to stare at the wall of murk surrounding the Mangum tornado wasn't exactly rewarding or fun. Nothing like driving all that way, getting on the right storm at the right time, and not playing it right.

5.9” 24 hour total here. Unbelievable.

you may have more incoming today....some clearing in the NE quad of the low..with cold 500MB temps

HRRR breaks out heavier showers and storms later this afternoon with 1/2 to 1 inch in spots...where ever they form under the low and are more stationary then any bands around it

it may be just SW of you though...all depends on the wobbling low

Looks like a Top 5 Crest at some locations on the Des Plaines river including a Top 2 at Riverside

at 9.98 now

Historic Crests
(1) 11.28 ft on 04/18/2013
(2) 9.90 ft on 08/15/1987

I wonder where July 2017 ranks. I remember substantially training when I lived in that area. 3rd-4th week of that month.
