So, I set new records (see above). But now that I've had a nap (working 11-7 shift) and looking around at local CO-Ops, seeing the newer, less than 50 year old locations set records too, but the older stations did not. 1917, 1906 and 1968 were VERY cold! The records there are 3-8 degrees colder than what I and newer stations set yesterday/today.

I don’t expect anything. Just throwing out something to talk about.

I think that describes this past winter in a nutshell.  Still shaping up to be one of the top 5 events of the year even if it’s just cold rain lol

We need to squeeze 2 more inches out to get to triple digits for the season.  Haven't had one below 100" since 01-02.

Snowed for hours yesterday, but didn't accumulate here.   Looks like we have one more shot at snow on Monday.

If I could squeeze out 2 more tenths, I would be at an inch here for the season. That would move the futility ranking from first, to first.

Jokes aside if this was winter the failure of the American guidance (gfs/NAMs) would have been epic. Adjusting for the warm boundary layers due to the time of year...had this been winter the GFS/NAM would have basically been holding onto a major 6-12” snowstorm for parts of the mid Atlantic and simply caved at less than 24 hours to the rest of global guidance that never really bit on that foolishness.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent
freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should
be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have
in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-
ground pipes to protect them from freezing.

Looks like there are still some pretty significant differences among the guidance on  rainfall amounts/specific location for the region. Generally looks like the heaviest will be in the northern third, but some Mesos have another max on the coastal plain.

Found it -- George BM posted:  Now still before that, in the pre-record era, accumulating snow fell from Northern Virginia through the NE corridor on May 4, 1774 with 4 inches falling in Northern VA and even more falling in places northeast. This was recorded in diaries.

Yeap. Here are some links to that event below:

So, a typical Mid Atlantic event then?
