2020 Atlantic Hurricane Season Tracking Thread

Recommended Posts

cracking at up at wxtwitter -- started the day thinking the gulf swirl was going to be Wilfred, then NHC surprises us all by naming Alpha in the far east ATL.

has 3 systems ever been named in one day? I imagine Beta (the gulf swirl) will get named today.

The forecast track for Beta would be terrible for the Texas coast.

Obvious, I know, but I just wanted to type “Beta.“

I Heard a weather person on tv today say that the dc area may feels leftover effects from Beta this weekend. But isn't the rain this weekend really from a frontal passage?

I think those guys make up crap to keep viewers tuned in.  Moisture may feed into the front but direct effects...meh

And just like the Atlantic looks clear as a bell

Must be all those 5G towers in the Atlantic that were secretly turned on last month. /s

highway 12 finally opened today in the wake of Teddy related flooding. Several stretches still covered in sand and water

I was talking to a few coworkers who have homes in the northern part of OBX (Duck, Corolla) and they each were saying how shocked at how fierce the ocean was for multiple days - washed away some of the wooden posts in the dunes and homeowners stairs leading over the dunes to their OF homes.  If it was bad up there, I can only imagine the damage to NC-12 south of Oregon Inlet.

We’re still a ways out but the signal is starting to reappear.

Western Caribbean lighting up with a deep E CONUS trough is a recipe for trouble. I think the MDR can still produce activity, but the threat zone has definitively shifted to the Caribbean, eastern Gulf of Mexico, and SE coast.

Yeah I guess so. I have to admit I’m starting to look ahead to deep fall. I think my tropical chase season is over unless there’s a legit east coast threat.

Delta may become problematic for the Interstate 95 Corridor in time, as ridging over the NE US steers it over the Mid Atlantic.

Could be a lot of wet weather in store.

Agree.. the seems to be a gradient set up with a big high to the north.. could be a prolonged period of flooding.. something to look forward too!
