They seem ok. I guess most plants can survive a few hours with temps around freezing. Didn't notice much frost other than on the car, so maybe there was just enough of a breeze.

My stuff is usually okay if it’s near a structure or trees, and the ones out in the open are those that get it the worst.

Yeah and I think the trees completely surrounding the house/yard help too. With the increasing sun angle/longer days they probably absorb, then radiate some heat during the night. If I had walked down to the end of my driveway, the wide open farm fields across from me were probably frost covered, and the temp was probably a degree or 2 colder.

Late week system looks juicy. Current guidance suggesting a soaking rain for much of the region.

Yep.  And then next week has that lingering upper level low chilly drizzle look.  At least on the GFS.  Might be the time to put down more seed.

* WHAT...Sub-freezing temperatures near 30 expected.

* WHERE...Portions of The District of Columbia, central,

freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should
be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have
in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-
ground pipes to protect them from freezing.

I hope not lol. Tired of covering the damn plants.

I think I'm safe here tonight with the wind. Probably mid 30s and no chance of frost.

I know there is a warning, I just doubt it it will verify here. I probably shouldn't, given the bust low a few nights ago, but the wind *should* prevent temps from going subfreezing.

Understood... LWX in their afternoon AFD seems to think that the winds will die down some tonight... but forecast lows are at freezing anyway... so its probably why our freeze warning is from 2am to 8am

Behind the front, a gusty NW wind will continue tonight, with
clear skies. The wind should prevent frost from forming, but
guidance is showing overnight lows at or below freezing for much
of the CWA anyway which warrants an expansion of the Freeze
Warning tonight for the entire CWA. Officially, the growing
season begins tonight in the highest terrain in our westernmost
zones, so this is why you are seeing the Freeze Warning that far
west, as temps are forecast to get as low as the upper teens
tonight in the higher terrain above 2000 feet.
