More good news:

All 3,711 passengers on the Diamond Princess cruise ship were tested, 712 tested positive, and of those, 331 (46 percent) have never shown outward symptoms, according to Japan’s health agency, which has also been cited by the CDC.

Bad news for unknowing transmission, but:

Non-symptomatic people can spread the disease, but, “we know that the virus is much more likely to spread from person to person if the infected one is showing symptoms,”

That makes the death rate much lower. If it can be said that for every 1 person showing symptoms theres 1 that's not. That means the 256k showing symptoms one could deduce there are 250k more positive but asymptomatic. That would take the death rate in the US to around 1%.

I think it's important to remember those without symptoms haven't had symptoms yet.

LEt's see what happens in the next few weeks with that group before drawing conclusions.

I follow this guy's channel on YouTube, younger American that lived in China for 10 years, fluent in Chinese, has Chinese wife and kid now...back in US because Chairman Xi's CCP began harassing and clamping down on foreigners a few years ago. He has a lot of great pieces on China from his life there. Interesting to get first-person info and perspective on China.

Here he discusses the drop in Cellphine useage and information and the utter madness of what's going on there from his personal contacts within China.

Frankly, I'm at the point where I'm beginning to refer to this as the Chairman Xi virus.

The Diamond Princess ship was disembarked Feb. 27. It's safe to draw a conclusion now. Just 1 sample of data that's encouraging.

2 confirmed cases the last 24 hours, obviously most of this is waiting for results, negative results up by 50 and pending cut in half...

Things continuing to go downhill quickly here. Up over 1050 cases in Erie county and 26 deaths with over 850 cases still active as well as 39 new cases confirmed in a nursing home in Orchard Park. That’s got bad news written all over it.

Syracuse, N.Y. — Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon is calling for a voluntary “shelter in place” for the next two weeks to fight the coronavirus.

The voluntary shelter in place order starts Tuesday. An order that would close most golf courses begins at 8 p.m. Monday and runs through April 27.

“Now we need more sacrifice,” he said. “We can only win if we’re doing this together."

McMahon admitted he can’t enforce it. It does not apply to essential workers. And you can still run errands to get food and medicine, if needed. But he’s asking people to go out every other day for medicines, groceries and other essentials in order to stem the spread of the virus. People can still go for walks in their neighborhoods, with their families and roommates, any day of the week.

Here’s how it will work:

  • If you were born in an even year, such as 1970, then run errands on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
  • If you were born in an odd year, such as 1971, then go out on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
  • Sundays will alternate. On April 12 even years go out; on April 19, odd years go out.

The order runs from April 7 to April 21. McMahon said he didn’t know if there were other, similar voluntary requests in New York.

“This disease, this virus is a killer,” McMahon said. “It killed five of our neighbors.

These next two weeks are critical, he said. This is when this community can dramatically stop more people from getting sick and overwhelming the hospital system, he said. In a big surge, Onondaga County could need 300 ventilators, McMahon said, adding the county doesn’t have that many.

That’s why he’s calling for people to stay separate and stay home. “We need the community’s buy-in,” he said. “We have an opportunity right now to flatten this curve.”

Without those measures, some models show we could be stuck in this pattern — with most businesses closed — into the summer.

He’s also closing all golf courses, except for those run by the state. “I don’t think there’s been a bigger complaint than golf courses,” McMahon said of people continuing to play. “People are going out playing with their buddies playing golf.” McMahon said New York officials support the decision. “The data is driving our decisions,” he said.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Former NFL kicker Tom Dempsey, who played in the NFL despite being born without toes on his kicking foot and made a record 63-yard field goal, died late Saturday while struggling with complications from the new coronavirus, his daughter said. He was 73.

The Times-Picayune/The New Orleans Advocate first reportedDempsey's death. Ashley Dempsey said Sunday that her father, who has resided in an assisted living home for several years after being diagnosed with dementia, tested positive for the coronavirus a little more than a week ago.

Gotta say, this is rubbish.  And 300 ventilators needed in the county? There's not even 300 active cases!  This is getting out of hand. Panicked and power mad little Hitlers seizing their chance to feel important....fueled by a panicked media and an army of snitches. Sad.

My entire facebook page is about this Tiger show on Netflix. I think I may give it a shot after I finish Dexter. I was planning on starting Ozark after.

It's really good. You'll be shaking your head wondering, is this real? LOL.

I've been binging it the last few months. I'm on Season 8 Episode 7. I hear the ending is terrible, but the ending of Game of Thrones was so bad that it cannot be worse than that. I've watched GOT 3 times through and read the books. It's basically unwatchable now after that ending. I'll still read the books when the 2 new ones come out. Dexter, GOT, and Breaking Bad are still my top 3 favorite shows.

Pretty much same here on those shows. And I'm a Better Call Saul fan.   I won't spoil the Dexter ending but since you already are warned...all I'll say is that if you survived GOT finale...you can handle this. ;)

The Walking Dead, Ozark, Quantico, and Van Helsing are some of the ones I've been getting into.

Last summer I watched "Santa Clarita Diet" because I like Zombie-type shows...and Drew Barrymore is in it. Such a STRANGE, black comedy of a show...but a fun ride. Another strange, but amusing one was Z-Nation.

Quite a few employees at my company are taking advantage of how nice my company has been with providing emergency PTO. It's left us pretty short staffed.

Pretty much proves @Luke_Mages point. People will always take the easy way out if given the opportunity.

That's sad. I remember back in 08/09 hearing my dad and his friends talk about how they were taking advantage of the extended unemployment at that time. And just last week we interviewed someone who said they were going to have to decline because they'd rather be on unemployment making $1100 a week doing nothing than $1200+ a week working a job.

Ozark is seriously worth it. My wife and I just began watching from episode one. Bateman is a genius.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — The Great New York State Fair is a little more than four months away and its director is optimistic about the fair not being canceled.

This optimism is based on the models from the state, according to the director. And now, if the fair does happen, it will officially be 18 days long.

State lawmakers approved the necessary money in this year’s budget to extend the fair.

Right now, almost all fair employees are working from home to get ready for what will be the longest state fair New York has ever seen.

2020 has been a tough year. At the end of this, you march through the darkness to get to the light. I am optimistic there is going to be a fair because there is going to be some light at the end of the tunnel. We are going to need a celebration of life at the end of this and the fair can act as that.

TROY WAFFNER – FAIR DIRECTOR

Waffner told NewsChannel 9 that, at the moment, there are no plans to use the Fairgrounds for help with the COVID-19 outbreak.

The American Red Cross is holding blood drives at the Expo Center on Thursdays and Fridays.

The epitome of entitlement...agreed - it's human nature to take the path of least resistance and that's why true socialism fails every time.

I got laid off during the 2008-2010 financial crisis. They gave me extended employment for I believe 18 months, but only if you went back to school. So that is when I went back to school to finish my Bachelors degree. Some people took advantage of that time period to better themselves, but I'm sure many took advantage as well.

The worst part of that time period is the governments bailing out all the financial firms that participated in aggressive lending practices. Giving out 500k mortgages to people making 50k a year. The tax payers bailed out Citi, BOA, JP MORGAN, AIG, etc... The CEOS of these "Failing" companies fired thousands of people and got huge paydays on our dollar. It's a lose/lose situation. The tax payers are either paying for welfare and subsidies for the low wage earners or paying for the bonuses for the top executives in their "bail outs". Because they are "too big" to fail.
