There's still not a lot of explanations that make sense for what's going on there... I know people have said variants are responsible but aren't the variants everywhere now?

They may have a higher amount of variant spread than other states, and the variants do seem to be more contagious.  There's also speculation that there are greater numbers of people there who hadn't been exposed to covid (MI cases per million are on the lower end, and their testing rates have not been super low compared to other states).

that already happened in georgia and arizona.  it's going to happen to nc shortly.  and it'll probably happen to texas in ten years.  people's political leanings these days are correlated to their age (generation) and education levels.

That will still be countered with gerrymandering and laws (that would have been unconstitutional with any Supreme Court but the current one) designed to make sure fewer people vote. Georgia is writing the playbook that Texas, Florida, and NC will use.

People wonder why there's so much mistrust, what a clown.

It’s really hard to take an argument, or the person presenting it, seriously when one refers to a guy with an MD from an Ivy League university as a “clown.”

There’s plenty of states with stricter voting laws than Georgia (including democratic ones).

I don’t think he’s a clown. But I do think he’s on a path to not finishing the pandemic in a favorable light.

So he has to be right since he graduated from an Ivy league school?

you really have to turn off cable news and get away from the outrage machine.  mistrust is perpetuated by those outlets and you are part of the ecosystem by watching it.  turn it off.

Where did I say he has to be right? But his opinion should be respected, and I would say it does prove he knows more about infectious disease than the people calling him a “clown” on a weather forum. But what do I know?

"Vaccines are our path to normality", said Fauci, according to the Fox "News" host.

Okay. Great. Given that we haven't actually reached our vaccination threshold yet, I fail to see why Fauci saying that even people who are currently vaccinated shouldn't dine indoors is so contrarian.

Conservatives keep bitching and moaning over Fauci "moving the goalposts", which is amusing as even that phrase implies that there is some sort of argument, with two sides, taking place.

His MD from Cornell and many decades of experience as an infectious disease specialist and as an advisor to seven different presidents (including four republicans) speak for themselves.

P.S. a quick quote from Fauci himself in response to the jack-offs that say his opinions "change" too much.

"If you change with the data," he said, "you’re not flip flopping."

What a bunch of goobers the anti-Fauci crew is. Seriously. Maybe not every Harvard grad is a great person, but you don't become the chief medical advisor of the last six presidents by accident.

Multiple presidents, but Jim Bob in Ohio knows what is going on.
