939 cases today. Highest yet. Doug Ford just announced all gyms and indoor dining will be temporarily closed for 28 days effective as early as tomorrow. Casinos and convention centers could also close. Practically stage 2 lockdown again. 44% of recent outbreaks in Toronto have been tied to restaurants and other entertainment venues. We’ve been on a steady increase since late August, so this was inevitable.

The concerning trend is the spillover into rural southern Ontario. Ford looked a bit shaky and emotional today which doesn't make me feel great lol. I hope im wrong but I almost feel like the train is moving too fast to stop now and he knows it.

It was idiotic to open everything up no restriction, this is just proving how idiotic it is.

But even the places that didn’t fully open up are seeing increases also. Even the places with full on mask requirements are seeing upticks a la Europe. This isn’t going away soon as much as we all wish it would.

There have only been 2 cases in the US of a person getting it a second time. it's starting to seem like people are just coming under the assumption that everybody's just going to get it, open crap up.

First off, hope you're feeling better.

Do you have a link for that?  Would like to read more.  It seems like it would be challenging to capture reinfections since it was so hard to get a test back in the winter/early spring.  Lots of people would've had it back then without an official diagnosis.

Why isn’t it he on it now if we’ve had this correction for over a month now?

Also, it was heavily promoted back in April, WAY before any kind of real trial and scientific-based conclusions could’ve been made.

So we can't act on reasonable hypotheses and mechanisms of action while we wait for the data to arrive?  Hydroxychloroquine is one of our oldest drugs, closely related chloroquine is almost a century old.  The scientific establishment has had plenty of time to realize these molecules have antiviral activity -- it has been suggested they help cells regulate their pH and take up zinc, thus inhibiting viral RNA replication.  And because the side effect profile of HCQ is on par with aspirin, and the drug is dirt cheap, why not suggest it as a prophylactic?  HCQ is already given prophylactically as an antimalarial.  No need to go "but muh high power double blind placebo controlled trial" and sulk at home while waiting for that data to come.  Same with Vitamin D and zinc.  We know they are safe and help regulate immune function.  Go supplement NOW.

As to why the President stopped promotion of HCQ, well, remdesivir and Regeneron are IP controlled drugs -- unlike hydroxychloroquine.  Thus very expensive, but very profitable for Gilead and Regeneron.  I sense some incentives lined up here and the President was persuaded against HCQ.  Or the doctors refused to administer it.

What exactly is still closed though? Even movie theaters, bowling alleys, and gyms have opened up much to the detriment they will cause.

Today broke yesterday's record high number of cases in Indiana.  I was thinking the number would be a little lower than yesterday since it's Saturday, but that's not the case.
Everything will get shut down after the election. I dont know how bad it would have to be to do it before then, probably bodies laying in the street.

Yes, I saw that to. Not liking the trends

If we broke the record on a weekend, no reason to think it won't be broken again (possibly multiple times) next week.

Probably will be of little interest to people outside of the state, but here's an article on increasing covid spread, pandemic fatigue, etc in rural counties in western IN.  Just sort of interesting to read about stuff on a more micro level.

Yes, they refused to administer it because they know it doesn’t work.  Most doctors that aren’t quacks know this.

And you know this for sure?  Then maybe you can explain something to me.  The CDC relies heavily upon the results of the UK HCQ RECOVERY trial in recommending against the use of HCQ.  The CDC also just paragraphs later mentions 1.2 g in 24 h is a toxic dose of chloroquine (which is correct, and 2.0 g is often a lethal dose).  So why I should I not discard the results of the UK RECOVERY investigation when they administered 2.4 g of HCQ in the first 24 h? And to gravely ill patients no less -- is that not absurd, when the hypothesized antiviral mechanism is inhibition of viral RNA replication, and should thus be studied principally in prophylaxis?  Randomized and controlled means little when the study methodology is flawed.

Or do you just know this because you this is what the mainstream media and their associated lab coat-wearing individuals told you to think, and if you question them you're a science denier?

Q anon trash.

I linked directly to the CDC, the UK HCQ RECOVERY trial preprint, and the WHO.  If that's QAnon trash I'm impressed; I wasn't aware he made reasoned arguments.  Maybe I should take him more seriously?

Meanwhile seasonality confirmed.  The case trends in the NH are very synchronous, including in my state which is setting new case records.

My God. The best scientists and the best scientific organizations in the world tell us that the hcq trials have either shown no efficacy or increased mortality. Why the **** should I believe you or someone anonymous Twitter account over them? Take your conspiracy shit to Facebook and Twitter.

Why don’t we just give everyone who gets Covid the Trump cocktail? The dude is almost 75, overweight, with preexisting conditions and just beat Covid in 3 days? I haven’t heard the word ventilator by any medical professional in months. It seems to me the medical world was quite wrong about them and actually increased the death rate.

Because an anecdote isn't a drug trial? Trump isn't out of the woods yet. They've been too cheeky about his condition to know all the particulars. Let's see what the results show. Maybe regeneron will help a great deal.

I'm starting to feel much better. just a headache and get winded when doing physical activity.  But a few days ago I actually went to the ER because I was so dizzy I could not even stand. Turned out I was drinking too much water and flushed sodium out of my system so I have to eat salty foods and drink Gatorade only for several days. I asked the doctor what are the chances of getting it again once you recover and he said you should be good with your body building up immunity as there's only been so far 2 confirmed cases of 2nd time covid in the US so far. So that's my source lol.

If a therapeutic let’s trump look the way he does today in his conference by all means give it to everyone. That’s more then a treatment, it’s a remedy.

They're not genetically sequencing the virus in every person with covid so its actually impossible to know how many reinfections there are. Theres been 2 definite reinfections but its possible there's more.

Reinventions are obviously extremely rare at this point. If they were common we would know by now. If they are common the 2nd infection you’re assymptomatic.

Ventilators are still used on some covid patients, but it is more of a last resort thing than it was early on.

The lab produced antibody treatments seem promising, but needs more trials.  Even if it's fast tracked and production is quickly ramped up, the downside is that it still requires a hospital setting for administration.  I really hope our hospitals will be able to handle what's coming this winter.

Regeneron is in stage 3 so we should have some results soon.

Sobering to think of where we may be heading.  Average of 500-600 deaths per day was our low point in the US this summer, which is about what you would have on a bad flu day in a bad flu season in the winter.  Obviously this will be our first full winter of being able to track covid-19 in the US, so there is a bit of an unknown as far as how bad the numbers could get.
