CBD and about 6 other medications have saved her life the past six years. Seizures are very scary to watch and go through. Dogs gets very disoriented after. I hope it be okay. Same here, except im 36, celebrating 10 years in St Lucia in a week. Our puppies are our kids, currently have a lab mix and a St Bernard beagle mix. Share the same feelings on people vs dogs as @wolfie09. I can watch a war movie but not marley and me. Yeah it's an experience I won't soon forget..It started with here fumbling around like she was losing here balance, then her entire body started to tremble and here eyes where all dazed and confused..She wasn't responding at all..My girl thought she was chocking so I tried to clear her airway but her mouth was clenched shut..I go to start the car and rush her to the emergency vet (35-40 min away) and I turn around she's back to normal lol I was like WTF..Now Everytime she sneezes I'm ready to rush her to the vet..As bad as it looks seizures aren't painfull, just scary looking.. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

CNY_WX Posted January 10, 2020 Share Posted January 10, 2020 Since we’ve gotten off on a pet tangent, these are our 2 pooches. The terrier mix on the right is the one with cancer. We adopted her just over a year ago. She was rescued from South Carolina and came north with several health issues including heart worms and mammary tumors. The rescue group had the tumors removed and they were found to contain cancer. We spoke with the vet and was told there was a chance the cancer could come back but we decided to adopt her anyways. Late summer we found some more growths and had them removed. One was a cancerous lymph node which means the cancer has spread. Her prognosis is not good, we’re just trying to give her as long as we can with as good a quality of life we can. It’s sad because she is a very good dog. The white Bichon is a rescue from a puppy mill. She’s 14 and we’ve had her almost 5 years. Back in 2010 after my pops unfortunately passed away from cancer I decided to add a new kitty to the family, I named him E.J (my pops initials), well when he was 6 months old we went to get him neutered and after a day or so I noticed he was extremely lethargic and could hardly breathe..So I rushed him to the emergency vet and they had to put him in an oxygen tank so he could breathe, turns out he had heart disease and heart failure (which is very rare for cats that young) , doctors didn't think he would make it the week, we were starting to run out of money as the in-laws put up 5000 to keep him alive!! Finally we had a break through and he started breathing on his own but the prognosis was terrible, average cat with medicine lives about 180 days..We were sent home with a special compound medicine only for him, well I'm glad to say he will be turning 10 next month!!! His mom is a cattedog and has red fur, looks nothing like him at all. Obviously his dad had to be a lab. My wife and I have been married 6 years and have no kids. My wife and I both enjoy coming home from work and doing as we please or do nothing at all. We have not officially said no to kids but at our age I feel that time has come and gone. We do have a dog and a cat. And like others have mentioned they are like our children and we care for them as such. And I to have watched my circle of friends get sucked into the hole that is their children's lives lol. My one friend had three kids and all three do different activities, I would lose my mind having to run all three kids here, there and everywhere. I work in retirement and its tough to see the older ones with no kids as sometimes they have no one to take care of them and start to get dementia. But having someone to take care of you is no reason to have kids. If I ever did have them I think I am going to stick to one. We both work full time and like having the freedom as you mentioned. My typical day is work, gym, eat/shower, netflix, video games. We go on 3-4 trips a year too. My entire lifestyle would have to change if we were to have children. I do think I am going to have one though in the next few years. 1 kid and a few dogs is good for me. I was well into my 40s (and my wife well into her 30s) before we had a kid. Fertility issues required a specialist, which took us years to get around to, but conception didn't take long after that. Certainly something to consider if you/your spouse is older than optimal fertility age, though without sharing too many details age didn't have a lot to do with our situation. But then we had a very preterm delivery and a long NICU stay, which was difficult at the time but we got through it. Our child is two now and has no issues. It did change our lifestyle a lot, but the emotional rewards have more than made up for it. We're not going to have another... it was hard on all of us, and we might not be as lucky next time.
