This has been one of the most consistently warm winters in NYC history. February will continue that.

March snowfall will not change that

no doubt this year is terrible so far...1956 had less snow than this winter going into March...it ended up with 33.5"...two big storms back to back from the 16th-19th...so it is possible to get a big snowstorm in March...I never give up until mid April...

Unbelievable not one day is forecast to drop below freezing next 10-15 days.

Also looks like a rainy, dreary pattern could set up with the gradient like pattern with highs mostly in the mid to upper 40s.

Really ugly if that's true. I'll take warm/dry over that any day. Probably another top 10 warmest month.

You may have already posted it but I'd be curious where the Dec 22 through Jan 30 period is. I would think it has to be at least top 5 warmest?

You may not hit top 10 if you get a cold snap

Keep in mind mid 40s isn’t that much above normal as you close in middle and later in the month

if you get one of those Weaks below normal, you pull away from the warmest months on record

Now if mid 40s becomes mid 60s, We are off to the races

Well next week could feature several 50's, so that makes for easy AN departures of +10 or greater.

Now that January has ended we get our first look at the 1991-2020 averages.

NYC, LGA, JFK, and EWR now have an average high of 40°F in January, up from 39°F in the 1981-2010 averages. EWR is leading the pack at 40.3°F. ISP falls short by 0.1°F.

Islip is now “subtropical”, meaning that the mean temperature in its coldest month (January) is at the freezing point 32°F, up from 31°F in the 1981-2010 averages.

The slow northward march of cfa continues.

Very significant rise at New Brunswick. 1980-2010 had a mean January temperature of 30.4F, solidly in Dfa, and the 1990-2020 January mean is 31.7F, just barely within Dfa. Demonstrates the material warmth of the 2010-2020 period.
