My ratter clothes are waiting for February but as of this moment I’m not encouraged.

The link below from the Aussies has a good database of historical MJO values.  It appears that we do poorly when in a lousy state like high 4/5 etc., but many epic stretches have occurred when we are dicking around the COD...for instance February 2015.

Edit:  February 94 was high 4/5

Winter over. B) It would be very interesting  if the Dec 1-3 storm turns out to be the biggest of the season for the Boston area.

Well for those who got a foot or more, sure why wouldn’t that be a possibility? Snowstorms of more than 10 inches aren’t supposed to grow on trees. We’ve been very fortunate lately.

I would be somewhat, if not very surprised if SNE sees a snowstorm this month

I mean the next week to 10 days is garbage..but there's still a couple weeks entering the heart of winter left in january, after that. A bit premature

Also, We're very close to having enough material for the Dr Dews Random Post generator to go online.

Definetely one of the better ones locally. 603's new location is right near 93 too.

Glad you like them.  Owner is a long time friend from childhood.  Took the leap of faith 6 years ago and they're going strong.  Unfortunately they stopped distribution out of state and I haven't been able to get up there in a couple years.  I personally love the Paradigm and Battle Axe DIPA.

Quite the temp gradient to the north and south of the front.

Perhaps the most awesome inversion I've seen from GFS - can't recall ever seeing modeled temps colder at H9 than at H5 (and 13C below H8 for AUG.)  Verbatim AUG's 1.5" qpf looks 1/4 RA, 1/4 ZR/IP, 1/2 SN in that order.  Highly doubt that sequence.  :P

Has anyone done a chart showing the number of big snowstorms (say 12"+) per year in the Boston metro area since records have been kept? That would be cool to see.

I did this for ORH last year....I have not yet done it for BOS, but I probably will at some point.
