it must've been rather windy in that 71 storm- 71 was quoted as the last time that the Thanksgiving parade balloon-fest was canceled in NYC!

I remember a Thanksgiving storm when I was a kid.....wonder if that one happened in the metro as well? Also remember one on the road to Indiana around the same time...

About an inch and half here.   Big bust all around-models really failed on this one.   Oh well, take what we can get, the season is young.

cant call it a huge bust considering this is what we normally get in these scenarios.

Snow is officially over now, all precip echoes seem to be offshore now!

12.0 inches on the ground and about half of that after sunset yesterday.

Very surprised I figured this would top out at 6-8.

somebody wake up the people at the local airports and ask them to please measure the snow before it all melts- the last measurements were at 1 am and were under an inch lol.

 It should be 1.5"

There are snowfall reports in the 12Z METARs:

KJFK 031151Z 35013KT 7SM -SN BKN024 BKN043 OVC065 M01/M03 A2954 RMK AO2 SLP003 BKN024 V SCT 931002 4/001 6//// 7//// T10061033 11006 21006 50004

The 931 group is snowfall in the past 6 hours. So JFK/EWR saw an additional 0.2" and LGA had 0.1" from 06-12Z.

JFK and LGA really? those sub 1" totals are the result of their last measurements being at 1 am.  why are they too lazy to measure when the storm ends and is there a number we can call to wake them up and complain about their laziness?

LGA is always absolutely useless. And both are BS representatives of Queens right on the water anyway with nothing but asphalt around.

Thanks!  Do they have METARs for Central Park too or is that only for airports?

In case it's just for airports, do you have one for Islip too? Their last measurement was also at 1 am.

Yeah I'm only 3 miles or so east of JFK and I remember one time they reported a trace and the snow plows were out here.  It was a 4 inch snowfall lol.

LGA makes sense being right on the sound with a northerly flow. JFK maybe not
