Check it for dirt/tree gunk and crusty bugs, or spiders looking for places to overwinter. That is usually the issue when mine doesn't work. Had a spider and all its meal remnants lodged underneath and it couldn't tip back in the summer.

Kinda mad.  My rain sensor in my VP2 didn't work properly yesterday.  Have no idea how much rain I got.  If its broken looks like I have an Xmas gift item from a secret santa here.  Anyone?  Hint hint

Would be surprised if it was broken.  What can happen is that a leaf or small twig gets stuck and stops the tipping bucket mechanism.

Still some time for changes for Sunday as im sure u know . Im in your camp ..i think a se slider but Eps still has a big cluster of .50"- 1" hits qpf wise . Mean qpf and low strength nudged up actually from yesterday.

12z NAM at the end of its run brings a bit more rain to the i95 corridor from EZF to DCA than the 06z run did for this weekend FWIW... but its not much tbh.  SE MD and EZF and south still have the best bet for rain this weekend

Seems to happen every month on mine. Poplar seeds are the worst.

Devised a new screen/protector gadget, and it helps. But during leaf season, the Davis rarely agrees perfectly with the normal gauge.

I actually bought a new bucket with the leaf guard and the bird spikes and it has been solid.

12z GFS generally has a quarter inch or less for most areas. The greater than half inch rains are in the tidewater and lower eastern shore.

12z CMC kind of strikes a balance between the 12z twin NAMs and the 12z GFS... CHO to EZF to DCA corridor gets some nice rain around 1"... looks like there are some up to 2" that get lucky

Interestingly the 12z GEFS has jumped considerably NW in the SLP track and ensemble mean. Now shows 0.5"+ for everyone south and east of Frederick.

Yesterday was a whopping 1F below normal at BWI. Second below normal day of the month. Only +7F on the month now!

Doesn't help that there was wind and clouds to keep the temp up overnight. And most people don't give a flying F about nighttime temps - we know what it feels like during the day, and yesterday was definitely cool.

Not to mention that the high/low avg method of calculating a daily mean temp is wacked in the first place. Especially so now that we have all this technology available and could easily calculate a one min avg with 1440 data points every day.

Yea...I think 0z Ukmet went on a tangent and was a eastern outlier now bumped back towards center lol

We'd be freaking out about this trend in another two months. It would be like the late-January 2010 event that we "willed" north over the course of a few days.
