The surface is stable but lots of elevated instability extends well out into the ocean.

Yeah not sure why people didn’t get the clue from last night. The storms just kept steam rolling over the ocean. And likely will again this evening. It’s further NE over New England that things are stable top to bottom

no chance to look at radar right now. How's the city looking for later in regards to these supercells?

They're ripping right now, but it's hard to say how they'll interact with the marine layer. It looks like the line will be in the nyc area around 6pm.

Plenty of lightning with these storms.  Over 700 strikes in the past three hours on my Weatherflow detector.

Chased the storm in Mercer County, but traffic on 202 and 31 slowed me down too much and couldn't catch the best part. Did see torrential rain and a little hail even on the edge of the good stuff.

There is going to be plenty of heavy rain and strong storms for the NYC metro/NE NJ but the storms should stay below severe limits IMO.

Live lightning tracking

This is amazing. I see a bunch of lightning strikes in Jersey and watch the sound wave propagation. Right when it reaches my location I hear distant rumbling thunder. So cool.
