Jim Marusak Posted May 18, 2019 Share Posted May 18, 2019 question here. maybe i just haven't seen enough of them due to work or something. but there seem to be more than the usual amount of "multi-core" or "multi-circulation" supercells today than usual. the one that formed near Ft Stockton and is still going to the east on I-10, and the one currently in Nebraska crossing I-80/US 30 between Gothenburg and Lexington. the ones I have seen the most are usually single core-single circulation. is it just me? Would’ve gotten more, but got held up for a little while by snapped powerlines in the road east of Farnam, had some trouble finding additional roadways as cell coverage in SW NEB is pretty awful. Tons of chasers were on the storm. Saw numerous DOWs, in addition to the NOAA P3 aircraft, hopefully they got great data. I would guess proximity to a populated area, but I have seen "PDS" warnings used instead even when the couplet looked to be approaching a town/city.
