April 2019 Discussion II

The dew crowd will want to celebrate Thursday night through Saturday. This next system looks like it will flood us with a tropical airmass for a good 48 hrs. Anticipating the SE ridge to really start to flex in upcoming model runs...

I’ve seen normal temps being forecasted for JJA. Where are folks getting the oppressive dewy ones from?

In this era bet on warm/hot.

Maybe not oppressive, but you’ll win more often than not going AN. Just the state of the climate.

If the Farmington co-op is any indicator, 30-year norms are going to have some significant changes when the 1991-2020 averages kick in.  1991-2020 averages are thru last month.

Parameter     Temp   Precip   Snowfall
1981-2010   42.28°    48.37"    86.51"
1991-2020   42.94°    49.36"    92.42"

Decade to be dropped/added in 2021
1981-1990   41.41°    46.14"    80.97"
2011-2020   43.49°    49.10"    94.76"

10-year precip actually peaked (so far) several years before the present.  The driest and wettest 10-year periods occurred exactly a century apart.
1905-1914   37.74"   Includes 3rd, 5th, 8th, 11th driest
2005-2014   56.19"   Includes 1st, 2nd, 8th wettest

10-year snowfall had its peak and valley just 11 years apart.
1968-69 thru 77-78   112.3"    Includes top 2 wiinters
1979-80 thru 88-89     72.8"   Includes 2 lowest winters

Heavy dews and raging rivers/streams. This is what we've been waiting so patiently for and it's finally here.

How great it would be if summer was today. low 60s, no humidity, nice breeze.

I could take up to 82 at this DP ... but, low 60s in this type of tall sun angle and low wind is just fine -

Summer is basically here now

If only.  I would take summer days with lows in the 30s and highs in the 60s.  It's just not our climo...

All the snow has melted from my yard except for some old plow piles...can see one final patch in my neighbors yard but its time has come after a solid 6-month winter.
