What is your record rainfall for a year?I'm sure your're way past your avg. for a year

76.45 which was last year.  It's currently pouring down right now as a complex of storms has fired on the NE Plateau.

RAOBS shows a boundary hung up into the Valley with lots of convection

Looks like the mid-state is getting some heavy rain out there too. Lots of thunder with mine earlier, which I always enjoy hearing, but the thunder moved out and now it's just moderate rain falling.

Picked up 1.25” again today. Seems like I don’t go more than 3-4 days without rain this year. The end of April was my driest point of the year when I went about 3 weeks without rain.

I’ve had several come thru hardeman county the last 2 hours.  Have had double digit lightning strikes and plenty of rain as well.  I will check my rain gauge once it stops raining and update my post but it’s safe to say we’ve had atleast a half inch or my rain the last hour.

Didn't end up nearly as hot today as predicted because it stormed around 11am. Had another round of very heavy rain this evening just before sunset. At 3.31 for August now. Which seems almost dry compared to most months this year.

@Holston_River_Rambler pretty interesting to see the storms roll off Bays tonight.  Looks like the winter time snow deal that you have studied some.  The animation is pretty cool.  Maybe a little lift from Bays Mtn which sits at 2300’ and maybe some lift from the industrial heat dome?

@Carvers Gap was just up your way a couple of days ago. Hate that I missed that. MRX radar has been down too, which has put a cap on my usual radar watching. Been trying to buy a house this month and got summoned for jury duty for a horrible trial in Knox. Fortunately dismissed from the jury, but been a crazy month + for me. Soooooooo happy that the front made its way through E TN though. Still hot, but the dew points are primo today!

Tuesday: Another round of storms blew up in East Tenn. Some wind damage was reported around Pigeon Forge and Sevier County.

Wednesday: Today reminds me of August 21, 2017. It's hot and mostly sunny here. MCS is decaying over the Central Plains. No eclipse though, lol!

One year ago 8/21/18 was cloudy and rainy here. I find it interesting to compare weather as I reflect on the eclipse. This year would have worked out again.

After Thursday rains, Friday rains and storms and some overnight rain, at 4.48 inches of rain for August. Normal is about 4.1 inches. Decent chances of rain today, tomorrow and tomorrow night as well. Model models are spitting out another 1-1.5 inches in my area from now til September 1st. I've had more than 6 inches of rain every month in 2019 so far. Will see if August can keep that up. My only near normal month was May and I average right at 6 inches in May though. Average is 4.05 in Sept and goes down to 3.3 in October. In November it heads back close to 6 inches on average.
