March 2019 Observations

Observations from this date in 1980.

Outside, the snowfall dwindled and finally stopped about 1:15 a.m. on Monday. It was 13.7 inches deep as officially measured, but some parts of Hampton Roads received 20 inches, and Elizabeth City, N.C., had 25. Drifts were 8 to 12 feet high.

At the newspaper office, a reporter typed the opening words of the Monday morning paper: "Tidewater is closed," it read. "Stay home."

Probably got about .5" from this surprise snowfall although most of it had melted by the time I got out of bed at 9:30. Temp never got any lower than 33 this morning. Points south and west of me got the jackpot with this storm. Currently 41/33.
