Well I’m on phone but at first guess it appears DGZ area is fairly dry so lacked ice nuclei. Then I see lift in the lower levels where temps might supper more super cooled liquid.

Yeah, that makes some sense. I was thinking something similar. Thanks.

I apologize for my 3" ish post.  I have some other stuff to deal with tonight so eyeballed railings.  Snow has been so fine the railings are not good representation.  Went out and did a few measurements on flat open surfaces.  its almost 5.5"

Back to sleet

Ha, big difference there, almost double what you estimated.

Warmth has moved into MBY. 29.1/28.

Measured 3.75" before the transition to sleet, shovelled that off, and another 2" has fallen. Unfortunately it's compressed to 4.5". Lots of meat in them potatoes. Man snow!

Heard that things are a mess in Franklin County...

At least all 4 of our  school districts have delayed openings

As of yet, no delays called for tomorrow anywhere in Franklin County and we probably ended up with the most accumulation tonight.

I'd agree with that...DGZ looks not totally saturated....if it was, then it would totally be a sleet sounding, but all the precip generation looks like it may have been below that level.

Right...good luck forecasting that lol. I think everyone kinda caught off guard by the amount of zr in the gta. Fun.

Portland Public Schools also closed. Temp has risen to 24 here on the island. Sleet line has crossed into southern York County. Should hit this area in less than 2 hours. Plow crews not so happy.

Is there a significant batch of precip moving thru between say 2-6am?

Stuff down the in the mid-atlantic will move through...not sure I'd call it "significant"....depends on your definition. But it's going to probably be a few tenths of QPF. So anyone W of the CF could get some icing from that.

4.8"  of new snow/sleet. Sleet with pixie dust. Latitude FTL. Temperature creeping upward, now at 17.6° F.

The winds have slacked off. Still breezy, but we're not getting the freight train sound from above with the occasional gusts to 30+ MPH anymore.

Huh, we may have beat you here. That doesn't happen often.

No wind to speak of here.
