I guess it's because i grew up boating on the bay but for whatever reason bay ice pics are like porn and stuff. Thanks @ThePhotoGuy

When I was out taking pictures earlier, I kept thinking how I liked this snow more than the big one a couple weeks ago. The icy creeks/rivers really made it feel like "deep" winter.

NWS says I get to 38-39 tomorrow.  I don't buy that . I bet my yard struggles to hit 30 . I measured snow depth of 4"- 5"   . Current temp is 12/9

Seems a tad high yeah. Probably low maybe mid 30s there. That's my forecast high as well and I was thinking it was probably too high. Sunday is a different story. The beginning of the torch will be underway.

Same total here.... 2.2"  Seems like the winter of long duration light snow events.  Snowed without a break for almost 12 hours.

Season total: 21.2"  Need about 4-5 inches to hit climo.

That’s a great point. I feel like I’ve had about 50 hours of snow this winter with like 12 inches to show for it lol

I was lucky enough to have some time this afternoon, so I decided to go skiing at Whitetail, not even knowing that the event would overperform up there. The snow was very heavy once I passed Hagerstown and drove through Blair Valley Road. I believe @paxpatriot mentioned the roads being really bad around Hagerstown, and I was right in the thick of it, a little concerned, but also thrilled that it was coming down so hard.

But once I arrived at Whitetail, it felt magical. The snow itself was just about perfect... cold powder (temp was in the mid-teens the whole time), lots of dendrites (it was like a snow globe even when the snow was light), and not to mention the fact that it kept going on way longer than I expected, and the conditions were outstanding. I believe they ended up with around 4-6", but I'll have to check. The whole trip was amazing, and I look forward to doing a lot more skiing in the years to come.

Thought this  might be the case. From Mt Holly-

The fresh snow cover and the high moving south of the region during the day has led guidance to come in much lower with maximum temperatures today, and this certainly seems reasonable. I dropped highs 2-5 degrees in most locations, on the lowest fringe of the statistical guidance. I suspect there will be some rather large variations spatially in hourly/high temperatures today given the heterogeneous nature of the snowpack.

Wow. 7-8 would be tremendous from a clipper but a foot is incredible. What a spot.

Upslope enhancement is a wonderful thing. I have a feeling that Whitetail got a bit of it yesterday, but it's nothing compared to Garrett county or Canaan.
