The new Euro came in a little better with (what now is today's) wave.  Could be a repeat of today, with around an inch of fluffy snow from east Iowa through northern IL.

Yeah, nice little uptick on reliable guidance for today/tonight. Ended up with 2.5" of pure fluff from yesterday's action. I'd take a repeat. Consolation prizes for missing out on Monday's event. :D

National Weather Service Chicago/Romeoville, IL
1022 AM CST Sat Jan 26 2019

.UPDATE...
1022 AM CST

Updated POPs and snow amounts to increase them this afternoon into
this evening. Overall, it is looking like as good, or even a
slightly better setup then Friday`s event for light snow over the
area today. For this reason, we have bumped up POPs significantly,
and upped snow amounts into the 1 to 3 inch range, especially
south of I-88 and I-290, with up to an inch north. The snow should
end across the area by mid evening.

Looking like we see some light snow accumulation tonight here as well. This kind of came out of nowhere. Dtx still just has 40% chance of snow.

Yeah, I've been bombarded with texts about NWS calling for 2-4" tonight. I checked the 3km NAM and sure enough, a strip of 0.20" right through our area. At 20:1, that's 4". I'll take it. Heck, the HRRR is giving us 0.30". If that verifies, it's warning level snow for us. I love clipper surprises.

We got 1.1" on 0.03" early this morning.

ILX just issued a SWS for 1-2" of fluffy snow this afternoon. This combined with the surprise ~2.5" of fluff I got yesterday is an excellent consolation prize for the potential rain I'm going to get on Monday.

...Another Round of Accumulating Snow This Afternoon to Early
Evening...

Snow will develop across central and eastern Illinois today, and
diminish this evening. One to two inches of accumulation are
likely, with the higher amounts northeast of a Havana to
Charleston line. With very cold temperatures in place, snow will
quickly accumulate and cause slick roadways. Motorists should be
ready for snow covered roads and slow travel this afternoon and
evening.

Today's clipper perked up nicely as it traversed Iowa.  I saw a couple heavy bursts and finished with 1.6".

Yeah this one today has been a big improvement over yesterday's here.  It's been non-stop snow globe action since it began around noon.  Looks like close to an inch and a half of some of the fluffiest snow I've seen.  Pretty impressive to go from nearly -20 to moderate snowfall in <5hrs.

Still have some decent banding right down the 28 corridor. Looks like we're almost at 2in, haven't checked the board, but its still coming down at a nice movie clip.  Honestly i'd take these nickle and dime clippers the rest of the winter.  Around here it usually eliminates any WAA concerns we usually have with stronger systems.  I think it was 2012-13 we piled up over a foot in 7-10 days with no melting  riding the clipper train.  I hope the WI folks can cash in on whats coming without me getting to much rain lol.
