The Eversource CT outage map is very revealing:

(So is the lightningmaps.org map)

BTW, I'm in Washington Depot, CT (Litchfield County) and at least so far have missed the worst effects of this storm - just eyeballing at about 3 or 4 inches, including a heavy crust of compacted sleet - it was pinging all night here. Not looking forward to the deep freeze, though...

I’ve only witnessed one true flash freeze back in 03, iirc. So If we dry out on the backside, just a cold night and MLK day ahead with some black ice.

Thunder in Wickford RI. The front is sliding east apparently. Temp here is holding steady at 35F for the last hour. Expecting it to drop soon.

yeah... it was mentioned yesterday that thunder could occur S and SE zones...  Some higher res models were flagging some modest instability ... albeit elevated

I'm not sure I've ever seen this from a big climate site in a storm before.

It is -1F at BTV with 1/8 mile vis in +SN.

How often do you see a METAR this cold with 1/8sm snow?!

KBTV 201354Z 32006KT 1/8SM R15/1600V1800FT +SN FZFG VV004 M18/M21

We've done it a few times here in SWFEs.
