I want to see that combined with this

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_winter

besides direct climate modification done intentionally this may be the only other way to avoid a climate catastrophe

Nuclear winter is a severe and prolonged global climatic cooling effect that is hypothesized[1][2] to occur after widespread firestorms following a large-scale nuclear war.[3] The hypothesis is based on the fact that such fires can inject soot into the stratosphere, where it can block some direct sunlight from reaching the surface of the Earth. It is speculated that the resulting cooling would lead to widespread crop failure and famine.[4][5] When developing computer models of nuclear-winter scenarios, researchers use the conventional bombing of Hamburg, and the Hiroshima firestorm in World War II as example cases where soot might have been injected into the stratosphere,[6] alongside modern observations of natural, large-area wildfire-firestorms.[3][7][8]

the storm on March 18-19th, 1956 was a 12-20" blizzard across the area...40mph winds caused large drifts...the period March 12th, to March 24th had four snowfalls adding up to 26" at Newark...April 8th had another 3.4"...

3/12-13/56.....1.4" over night...

3/16-17/56.....5.7" heavy snow/sleet/rain and back to snow...

3/18-19/56...18.2" all out blizzard...

3/24/56..........0.7" cold front passage...

4/8/56............3.4" rain changes to wet snow...

was that the biggest snowstorm we've ever had post March 15?  Wasnt there one like that in 1958 too?

1958 was a big wet snow event...the first storm was on 3/14/58...4" of wet snow...the 20th-21st was 12" of wet snow...1956 was 10 degrees colder...only April 1982 surpasses it as the latest blizzard on record...

What about the April 1910 (?) event that gave NYC 10 inches and 19 inches in Philly, was that a blizzard? And was the March 1958 event the one that dropped 29 inches at Babylon?

a week before my seventh...I was scared by lightning during the first storm Friday evening the 16th...

Good evening Unc. The mid 50’s hurricanes affected me. I lived in a Dyker Heights row house. The power would go out, streets dark, no sound, not even radio. The rooms were lit by candles that did little to dispel the dark. I remember staring out the window, the quiet only broken by the wind and rain, very quiet and frightened. As always …..

LGA but no JFK? What year has the earliest snowfall records from JFK or Idlewild?

Was that the storm in which Babylon got over 2 feet? I thought there was another one in the 50s (58?) where they got close to 30 inches?

Climate (weather.gov)

1958 was big in SE PA...higher elevations did better...from 1956-1960 nyc got a foot or better snowstorm in March three of the five years...hasn't happened before or since then...two old fashion blizzards and one paste bomb...

that sounds very similar to the April 1910 storm!

Was just reading NOAA's definition of a blizzard, because reading through this thread and the clips from 1982 I was surprised to see that the April '82 storm was actually a blizzard, which apparently it was around here.   Saw that the definition of a blizzard on NOAA's site includes the line  "Sustained wind OR frequent gusts to 35 miles an hour or greater." (my emphasis.)

How is 'frequent' defined?

The Babylon observer was a slant sticker.
