  NORTHEAST AT 30 MPH.

  HAZARD...TORNADO.

  SOURCE...RADAR INDICATED ROTATION.

  IMPACT...FOR THOSE IN THE DIRECT PATH OF A TORNADO TOUCHDOWN, 
           FLYING DEBRIS WILL BE DANGEROUS TO THOSE CAUGHT WITHOUT 
           SHELTER. DAMAGE TO ROOFS, SIDING, AND WINDOWS MAY OCCUR.

From Mount Holly NWSFO this morning-

September 2018 has so far had 168 hours with dew points at or above 70 degrees at KPHL, which is the most going back to 1973. An additional 36 hours or so of 70+ degree dew points is possible with the passage of the remnant low of Florence.

SUMMARY...THE BRIEF TORNADO THREAT WILL SPREAD NORTHEASTWARD WITH

WATCH ISSUANCE IS POSSIBLE.

DISCUSSION...AT 19Z, THE REMNANT SURFACE CIRCULATION ASSOCIATED WITH
TD FLORENCE WAS LOCATED NEAR THE OH/WV BORDER, WITH A PRONOUNCED
MIDLEVEL DRY SLOT NOTED ON WV IMAGERY TO THE SOUTHEAST OF THE
CENTER. A DIFFERENTIAL HEATING ZONE/EFFECTIVE WARM FRONT IS NOTED
FROM THE EASTERN WV PANHANDLE SOUTHEAST INTO PORTIONS OF CENTRAL VA
AND SOUTHERN MD. CONVECTION NEAR THE FRONTAL ZONE HAS DISPLAYED
OCCASIONAL ROTATION, AND A FEW BRIEF TDSS HAVE BEEN NOTED OVER THE
PAST FEW HOURS. AS THE BOUNDARY SHIFTS NORTHWARD WITH TIME, MLCAPE
OF 1000-1500 J/KG, 0-1 KM SHEAR OF 20-30 KT, AND 0-1 KM SRH OF
200-300 M2/S2 WILL CONTINUE TO SUPPORT AT LEAST TRANSIENT LOW-LEVEL
MESOCYCLONES, WITH AN ATTENDANT THREAT OF BRIEF TORNADOES AND
PERHAPS DAMAGING WIND GUSTS. 

THE MAIN CORRIDOR OF THREAT SHOULD SHIFT NORTHEASTWARD THIS
AFTERNOON, INTO AREAS NEAR AND SOUTH OF DC. GIVEN THE POTENTIAL FOR
A FEW DISCRETE CELLS WITH AT LEAST A TRANSIENT TORNADO THREAT, WATCH
ISSUANCE IS POSSIBLE. A SMALL SLIGHT RISK WILL ALSO BE ADDED IN THE

At 336 PM EDT, a confirmed tornado was located 7 miles east of
Moseley, moving north at 20 mph.

HAZARD...Damaging tornado.

SOURCE...Radar confirmed tornado.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
         shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage
         to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur.  Tree damage is
         likely.

That TW that just expired for the Falmouth area is the first time in awhile that I've seen the "Locations impacted" tag mention my community. Ironically, the closest my area has ever come to a tornado was also on a September 17th. :lol:
