You can really tell which locations got helped out by the abnormally warm SSTs.

Pattern really starting to dry out since August 20th. Maybe some scattered convection with the front  on Thursday. Cooler weekend with easterly flow behind the front. The Euro and GFS track what is left of Gordon through the area early next week. We'll see if the models can hold onto those rains or they find a way to miss us.

Yeah in 2014 there were at least 2 storms below 20 degrees and heavy snow. In fact The early Jan 2014 storm at the height it was 5 degrees with heavy snow. Another poorly measured storm at Central Park

You guys seen the GFS 18z

has a Category 5 hurricane east of Georgia at hour 210

While such an extreme storm appears unlikely, Florence still needs to be watched for a possible push toward the East Coast next week. A cluster of EPS ensembles shows just a threat. It’s far too soon to write it off.

Florence looking like a Whirling Dervish with choreographing by 'Sandy2012'.   Lol.

Just what the waterfront needs, a Cat3 Sandy.    Real estate prices would plunge and none will ever again be able to afford coastal Flood Insurance w/o government bailouts.   Play on word 'bailout' intended.

Next 8 days averaging 75degs., or 5degs. AN.

But big story will be Florence, between Sept. 14-18.    A million people or more may need to evacuate, including yours truly with these fantasy runs.    20 million would be affected.    Hundreds of thousands left homeless.

This would be an example of what happens when the mean value changes by a little---the extremes increase by alot.

Record temps., heights, 850mb T's, rain and snow events, tidal flooding, deeper troughs etc.

GFS is complete garbage for tropical cyclone intensities.  Modelled sub-900 storms regularly last year.

Completely agree-always over-done-CMC is bad too.

Euro shoves Florence into North Carolina

Euro I'd pay attention to-euro often out does some of the hurricane models.
