Next 8 days are averaging 82degs., or 6degs. AN.

Month to date is  +3.8.    Should be  +5.2 by the 14th.   This would be a record pace if maintained for the whole month.

Gotta watch ULL/cutoff in the 8/13-8/15 period before next surge of heights/ridge.  If the WAR pushes the cutoff into the GL/OV full steam ahead or Overall warm and wet again if the ULL is over the region.

90 at isp and FRG. We roast

Pretty wild to see a 99 HX at Montauk. Not every day that Montauk beats out Miami at noon.

Montauk N/A 87 77 72 S3 30.08S HX 99

Miami........................................89.....74............................................HX....97

Impressive. I wonder what the average peak temp for the ocean waters is.

Headed to Miami this week and I can’t wait to get in that bathtub

Back in early July they were right around 80 also. That is pretty much the warmest that I have seen at those bouys. Miami is probably one of my favorite places to visit in Florida. Once I stayed at the old Americana hotel on the north side of Miami Beach. The Miami skyline keeps getting higher with all the new towers going up. Have a great time.

Yea it will be nice. Going without the wife and kids to see an old buddy of mine and my dad who lives down there. Plan on drinking, eating, boating and relaxing. The past few weeks have prepared me for the Miami Heat

It’s more related to a period of light onshore winds less then 15 knots and full sun. Although overall it’s some time around mid August. Stronger winds or even light offshores and you will upwell cooler water. That’s why I laugh when people say “watch out for tropical threats” In our  area because of warm buoy reading. All you need is the swells in front of a storm to turnover the water column and water temps will drop 10 degrees or more

It's actually breezy there unless you are inland away from water, so it's not that bad.  At least that's my recollection when I had done summer sessions down at UM in the late 90s.  Plus it usually rains btwn 2-5pm too.  Enjoy your trip down there.
