Definite weak tornado 6 blocks from me. 3rd Avenue area of Whitestone, Queens. Most damage confined right along the water. Trees snapped and twisted in a park there and throughout that neighborhood. Various debris scattered everywhere as well.

I took some bad pictures but this site makes it impossible to upload.

That's weird. I'm in Whitestone and it was calm as can be, barely a gust of wind and no rain.

Edit: Meant to quote your other post.

Go towards Malba. 3rd Avenue and 147th Street. The park there and that area. You’ll see a dozen trees down and twisted just in that park alone.

friend who lives in queens by the whitestone reported heavy rain and strong winds.  some street flooding as well. it was in and out within 2 mins he said.

Damage is confined to the immediate shoreline of Malba in Whitestone. Pretty confident it was tornadic. Trees are scattered and twisted. Debris everywhere as well.

Must have been really localized. I'm in Le Havre in Beechhurst near 162nd and 9th so right near Malba and had very little impact.

Yup. Damage was confined to a small area right near the park.

Looking past the general public’s (and even the wx community’s) “shock” about a tornado warning/touchdown in NYC, you’ll see the city has had quite a few tornado touchdowns in recent years, probably more than most major cities outside of the Plains/Midwest.

08/08/07 - EF2 - Brooklyn

07/25/10 - EF1 - The Bronx

09/16/10 - EF0 - Brooklyn

09/16/10 - EF1 - Queens

08/28/11 - EF0 - Queens (Hurricane Irene)

09/08/12 - EF0 - Queens

09/08/12 - EF1 - Brooklyn

08/02/18 - EF? - Queens

I’d add the 09/16/10 Macroburst as an honorable mention, that thing was basically a miles-wide borderline EF2/EF3 wedge tornado.
