The next 8 days way down to average 79degs., or 4 degs. AN.   But remember to set a new record for the hottest July ever,  we need to be just +5.0.

Do we dare believe an even worse heatwave starting July 10 and going to..............?

The RWTT has lost that mid-month toughing here.  No BN period till August.

this was a weird heat wave to begin with... not your classic blast from the plains with an EML. the ridge developed almost overhead

The surface ridge axis was further north than we typically see with our hottest days of the year. It allowed more of an onshore flow to develop near peak heating. Instead of the deep SW to W flow that we saw so many times from the summers of 2010 to 2013. Then the ridge was located from Bermuda west to the interior SE.

Absolutely disgusting out there this morning. Usually I do a 4 mile walk with the dogs in Central Park, today we got in 1. Zero breeze and the air was so thick it felt like you could cut it.

Shower #2 for the day about to be underway.

pretty tough for anything outdoors in this weather...other than jumping in a pool or ocean/lake, it's an inside day...
