Chinook Posted July 30, 2018 Share Posted July 30, 2018 Will Toledo, Detroit, or Fort Wayne bust out of the recent dry spell with upcoming rains in the next 3 days? The NAM and GFS have a reasonable amount of QPF, in the range of 1- 1.5" near Toledo and Fort Wayne, and both have at least some for Detroit. I wonder if the rain amounts will be disappointing. Chinook Posted August 1, 2018 Share Posted August 1, 2018 Toledo Airport got 0.81" in the rain gauge today, so it won't get top-5 driest July. According to this radar image, only 0.10" - 0.30" has fallen near the airport, so that's weird. Otherwise, this image shows lots more rain of 1.0" - 2.0" happened near downtown Toledo and northward towards Detroit. KTDZ, near Walbridge, had 0.97" of rain up to 03z (almost midnight). Both the high and low were warmer than average at ORD, but both the high and low were cooler than average at RFD. The average temperature for the month was 76.3 degrees which is 2.3 degrees above normal. During the month of July, 1.14 inches of precipitation were recorded, which is 2.56 inches below normal. No records were set for Chicago for the month of July 2018. One Top Ten Monthly Records: **7th driest July on record since 1871 with 1.14 inches. At Rockford, the average high temperature was 83.5 degrees, which is 1.0 degree below normal. The average low temperature was 62.1 degrees, which is 0.9 degrees below normal. The average temperature for the month was 72.8 degrees, which is 1.0 degree below normal. During the month of July, 2.38 inches of precipitation were recorded, which is 1.57 inches below normal. The OBS site was moved this year...There is also construction in the vicinity, with the further development of Route 390 and the early development of I-490.
