Worse than 09?

Speaking only for my area, nothing could be worse than 2009, though by 2nd week of August things had improved to merely AN precip with lots of partly cloudy.  June-July were another thing entirely, rain on 49 of 56 days at one stretch, and much of it was all-day stratiform stuff, more appropo for November.  2009 had the least sun of Julys 21 here, and June that year had the least of any month.  Met summer 2009 brought 23.8" precip, 10.6" AN and 4.7" more than 2nd place.  The only uglier month here was May 2005, which had the same duration of rain but at temps about 20° cooler.

Many issues with that cloudiness chart, but the least/most pretty much reflect what I've recorded - Sept has been the sunniest month on average and Nov-Dec fight it out for least sunny.

My garden is toast at this point...Tomatoes literally rotting on the plants. We are over 13 inches now since around July 10th. I think we would have been better off getting 13 inches in 2 day followed by a nice dry period. Instead it has rained almost every other day since then. I sure hope we don't pay for this come winter time, I am a firm believer in the law of averages.

I’m on the good side of that crap. Nothing but mostly sunny skies and highs in the low to mid 80’s. Only had to contend with smoke from the fires out west. Looks like we get a taste of the damp side tomorrow for a few days. Oh well. Been a great summer up here. No complaints.

Been a very difficult stretch for the wsne crew. Just need to pull through, collectively, as best we can. We’ve done it many times before in winter.

Lots of root rot here too. I have mold growing all over a whole section of my sage.

My garden was a waste of time and money at this point.

Most of the cord wood sellers keep their summer stock uncovered so there is a lot of product getting saturated.

Meanwhile, moderate rain here.

:raining:   :weep:

Oh we'll get 13" of QPF this winter... but 11 of it will be 4 to 1 ratio slop...

I'm not sure I've ever noticed it like I did tonight, but just got back from my usual 3-mile loop with the dog through the woods and fields... the temperature difference right after the sun went behind the mountain between out in the middle of the field and then along the wood-line was crazy.  It felt surprisingly chilly out in the soccer and lax fields within minutes of the sun going behind the ridgeline but then where the Rec Path wanders along the wood edge with the canopy overhead it honestly felt 10F warmer.

For some reason I don't remember ever really "feeling" it like that before.  But really shows you how certain stations, and the airport ASOS stations, plummet this time of evening and any given location's temperature is really governed by the amount of vegetation nearby (like within 100 feet of the sensor).

You’re getting old. Soon you’ll be talking about how it wouldn’t be bad to spend a few weeks in Florida every winter. :oldman:

Excellent day with partly sunny skies and did a great hike up near Lake Willoughby with the wife and dog.

Temps near 80F though could feel the humidity ticking up.

Time to go water the garden.  Been a struggle to keep it from drying and burning up.

Willoughby, the Lake Lucerne of VT!  Love that place.

We've had no more than a handful of sunny days the past month.

An update to this wretched stretch. Back to back highs in the 60s and a little over 1.5" for the weekend.

The 27 day total is now 10.89"

Frustrated we vacation there.
