78/74.....hoping to be clipped by that storm moving SE over the LI Sound, might just miss me to the east though.

Storm directly to my north, lightning within 1 mile of me but no rain yet. I may get clipped as it slides to the SE, but if this thing was centered a couple of miles further west I’d be the meat of it. Oh well.

I just got into the meat of it for 5-6 minutes and it dropped 0.22 of rain now...tropical stuff

It appears to be moving pretty slow, which is a good thing since it looks like I’ll only get grazed by it. I’d be happy with .22” the way things are looking.

Meanwhile, my job is getting crushed, and I’d just left right before all of this.

some close lightning strikes now after the heaviest rain passed by.

Glad we are moving into July and August, when we can finally see decent storms

Next 7 days explode to average 85degs.,  or 10degs. AN.     Even if 2M T does not break any records due to surface wind vectors being in the wrong direction,  the 850mb T's could scrape a record 24C, (NYC) for 2 or 3 days running.   Newark averages 86 during this period.

Agreed, my favorite time of year. Only .01” with this one though, but I had some decent thunder. Sky cleared out a bit afterward and I have a nice view of the blindingly bright white cumulonimbus clouds from the cell that just moved offshore into the Atlantic.

Quite the spike in temp over the last hour or so.

Up to a new high of 89, maybe a late of of 90 possible to start the heatwave a day early?

Hit 89 as well, a few degrees above forecast. If the 18z gfs is right, then is just the appetizer.

I wouldn't be surprised if our peak temps occurred after Sunday. The heat will just be starting to build Fri-Sat.

I am curious to see what we do tomorrow temp wise, right now I am going with a high of 93 at Newark.
