Another chilly day at jones beach despite full sun. NY state just installed about 500 full size (10-12’) trees of various species along the wantagh parkway south of merrick road. It’s a tuff environment any time of the year but going into the south shore shore dry season is nuts. Total waste of money. Should have been done in the fall or very early spring.

I’d hope they’d bring out the irrigation trucks like they did while redoing Smithtown Bypass in Suffolk.

My garden is doing really well this year....light insect damage on the eggplant (I'm all organic, though I use a mix of castile soap and water to repel bugs)...but everything is green and rapidly budding.

I'll get some pics later and post 'em, probably in the banter thread. Maybe we should start a garden thread...?

81/48 at KALB with gusts to 20. Careful where ya toss your cigarette butts.

Yeah the woods are dry dry dry where there isn't growth. If you go down an inch or so it's still pretty good but drying quickly now with the undergrowth all up and the trees at max ground water suckage.

This Winter had some awesome ridge. I think we can do much better in the right pattern, 600dm or something

I believe July 2013 was our last one in the East. Maybe at some point in the future we push 604.

July 2013 was just brutal-weeks of 90+.    and then snap, it ended with a bang and August was fairly cool...

The new definition of a cool July in the 2010's is one that averages below 80 degrees at both EWR and LGA.;)

At least one station reaching 80 bolded

2010...EWR...82.3....LGA......82.8

2011...EWR...82.7....LGA......80.4

2012...EWR...80.8....LGA......80.4

Alot of hot months there, but interestingly July of 1999 holds on as the hottest at my station.

Yeah, July 1999 was also the warmest for ISP. The 2010's have the most years with 80 degree Julys at our local stations. No other decade has had 5 years.

80 degree Julys
