ATL is shattering the maximum low temperatures, but it looks like the record high temperature will be broken today as well (currently at 90*F set in 1956 and 1911).

The record was officially broken, with a high of 91*F.

My daughter and her travel fastpitch team are practicing in this at Northeastern High School in Elizabeth City. Oak Stump Acres is across the street.

I'd be suspicious of those numbers. I haven't seen any official reporting station anywhere near that hot.

We were inland and off the water. In the shade my vehicle was registering 94. My home station got up to 93 and that's a few miles away from where this one was taken. It might be off, but not by a whole lot. It was nasty hot.

This is my home PWS. The second photo is from the PWS at Northeastern High School, SW of Elizabeth City. Not a bit of AC in my 1993 Land Cruiser. It needs to be recharged, but R12 is unbelievably expensive and I'm not quite sure how much a retrofit to today's stuff is going to cost me.356a889307effbf73c9619b8ff200673.jpgcc0ea8e12a75bd238d5089543c171d62.jpg

Wherever you find millions of square feet of asphalt, you will also find scorching hot temperatures. 89 felt like 119 today in Greenville. Not looking forward to this summer. We were spoiled last year here in the upstate. Oh well. Such is life

Before the high clouds moved in, temps were off to the races and ATL managed to tie the record high of 91*F today (previous record was set way back in 1881).

This is just an early beginning.  Several years back ATL had 90 days of 90 or higher heat.   I can’t believe you came down here from Michigan.  The climates are literally polar opposites.
