Hence my auction vehicle - I'd rather buy a car with cash that's boring than have monthly payments.

I might splurge on an electric vehicle someday. Less overall maintenance sounds appealing.

Last three vehicles I've bought...cash. No payments are refreshing to say the least.

I to have a years worth of income in a liquid account.  My advise to all invest-,  invest ,  invest especially if your young start at 18 if you can. Dollar cost average in an index fund you will be amazed at what you will have in 40+ YEARS.  I believe we have 10+ years of amazing stock returns coming.  Yes we could have a flat year or even lightly down year in the next 10 but overall we just broke out after the election.

1) speaking of cars, i wish i still had my 84 white supra with that little turbo button lol.  fun 2nd car (first was a red 87 ford escort which was horrible and memorable at the same time).

2) my advice as far as buying a home is concerned is to not thing too far ahead.  about 10 years ago i decided not to buy because i didn't think i'd still be in the area.  it's nice to have rental flexibility, but i've done a half-assed job saving money over the years.  i'm now considering buying and trying to get out of the whole mindset of thinking 3 to 4 steps ahead.  1-2 steps is ok, but too far ahead and you end up in an over-thinking loop.

Never a UVA fan, but I felt bittersweet. It's one thing for the other team to go on a heater for one game and win on a buzzer beater, and another to be completely clueless, unprepared, and shellacked.  They were totally lost.  It's mostly on Bennett.  They were completely unprepared, unmotivated, and looking ahead.   Also, UMBC shouldnt have been a 16 seed.  Probably a 14-15.  The committee is a joke with their "whole body of work".  They refuse to consider a team that is on fire (12-1 in last 13 games), and refuse to apply the eye test to auto bids.

Speed killed that game. Uva should have played more physical, but played too soft, missed shots, and let umbc expose them in transition. It also helped umbc that a lot of these local players compete in the offseason so they’re not all in awe of the opposition. Bit of a trap game for uva but they went through the motions and lost.

@C.A.P.E.

Does not surprise me at all. Unfortunately, Mopar is known for pcm stuff and electrical goblins. Almost all high performance motors are prone to it. Especially turbos and more manufacturers are going that direction. I went with a hemi because I personally don't like turbos but they are here to stay.

It'S exactly why I'm going to buy the lifetime maxcare when my bumper to bumper runs out in July. Squeezing the sick amount of HP out of these motors is all technology based and every single thing the motor does is computer controlled. Pcm problems at some point are part of the game. It was most likely software and not hardware related but debugging software is more expensive and time consuming than just putting in a new brain.

The good thing is the chances of it happening again is fairly slim. And I'm with you, I'm not going to be on this planet all that much longer so I'm going to enjoy the F out of my time left. 400hp mated to a beautifully programmed 8 speed trans and magnaflow exhaust makes me smile every.single.time I sink my foot into it.

Have you driven an electric car yet? I have a twin turbo 300hp sports car and couldn't believe the response from a Tesla S, and it wasn't even their most powerful. Like neck jerking instant torque. Passing on the highway is crazy. 60->80 in an instant. Not to mention I can barely fit two people in my sports car and could fit 5 comfortably in the S. Its on my short list for the next car I purchase.

No interest. I'll let my kids have that fun. The growl of a v8 is ingrained in my soul. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a hopped up electric would blow my mind by I grew up with American muscle. 78 trans am, 72 cutlass convertible, and an 87 mustang gt on my resume. I'm set in my ways. Plus I love working on my cars and there's no way in hell I'll be able to work on an electric. If my son buys one I'll rag the F out of it though.

It also felt like UMBC put in every NBAJAM cheat code before the game. They were on fire from 3pt land. UVA was flat and couldn't buy a bucket. Being a hokie I have to snicker everytime UVA fails, even though we lost in the first round as well.

lol I hear you old man, get off my lawn :). The industry will move to a completely on demand model at some point. Think bike share or autonomous uber. My grandkids probably wont ever own a car and I'm only in my 30s. I had a similar opinion to yours until I drove the S. I still have plans to rebuild my sports car but it took a back seat to saving pennies for an electric.

I hope the really smart electric car engineer nerds figure out how to offer a fake manual transmission in the near future. The only thing keeping me from jumping on the electric car bandwagon is that they're all automatic...I enjoy operating a manual transmission way too much to go all electric at this point. It just makes the daily drive that much more engaging, especially when combined with something that has a bit of power and torque.
