March 1-2 wind event

Recommended Posts

Just let my dog out in the yard and it was pretty scary being outside just for a  minute under a tree canopy...definitely not going out there again.

I’m in Rockville/Gaithersburg and I haven’t experienced gusts this intense since Sandy on Long Island. Sandy was obviously worse, but these winds aren’t anything to sneeze at. Also had some light snow, but it appears that rain is falling now.

I guess imby, I was expecting more furious sustained winds, but they definitely die down for periods of time.  More like strong gusts here and there.

Daylight will bring the worst. From now til noon is the problem period.

Wut...OPM announced closed quite a while ago. For fed offices in the DC area.

Where did you see that? I don’t even see liberal leave for GSFC.

Going on 7 hours without power now. There is a telephone/power pole that snapped in half down the street from me.

NASA GSFC is Code Blue - Liberal Leave

Yeah, just got the text. Don’t think I’ve ever seen OPM have a higher code than GSFC.

Off and on snow right now in McLean. Will stop for a minute, and will then come in like a wall. Would be more enjoyable if we didn't lose power

I'd bet money it's to keep people off the roads in case of emergencies

Like so emergency vehicles don't have to drive around people
