Wow I did not realize that 1978 had a third major snowstorm after the one in January and the one in February.

Wow I do not remember the April 2016 snowstorm at all, although the amount of snow was almost identical to the famous April 1996 event in Boston.  I guess unlike the April 1996 event, the April 2016 storm did not snow on Long Island.

Record snowy March here in Wilmington, MA.

March 2018 45.5" surpassed the 41.7" recorded in March 1993 for +1.

The month was pretty epic by any standard in that it was my fifth snowiest on record.

  1. February 1969: 64.2"
  2. February 2015: 58"
  3. January 1966: 50.5"
  4. January 2011: 48"
  5. March 2018: 45.5"
  6. January 1996: 44.5"
  7. January 1987: 43"
  8. March 1993: 41.7"
  9. February 1983: 37.3"
  10. March 2001: 36.1"

Very impressive, Ray!  Thanks for sharing those stats.  So glad to see you cash in so well, in the month of March.  As we both discussed last year, March can often times deliver a big event/month.

Very slight nitpick for the event shown as 3/15-17/1967 at PVD and BDL.  I'm pretty sure that was 2 separate events, a coastal on 15-16 and the north edge of a clipper on the 17th.  That 2nd event was only 0.5" at PVD and 0.1" at BDL, but dropped 3-6" in the NYC area and ushered in record cold - NYC dropped to 13° toward the end of that event and failed to top 20° the next day.

Interesting statistical fluke that 4 of PWM's to 10 came on 13-14, another on 14-15, and all 10 within the 10-day period 6th to 15th.
