This is legit unsettling. There is nothing enjoyable about this. A sign of things to come, and if you don't think so, you're lying to yourself. It is 76 in Brooklyn right now a week after Valentine's Day. Absolutely bizarre

I bet they said that in Feb 1954 too

I'd say it's still pretty incredible and I'm willing to bet there is some climate change element to this all - making mega ridges (that absolutely shattered records) more likely.

Here's mine...

The sap flow has been awesome the past week or so.  I've never had so much sap.  I collected over 1500 gallons in the past couple of days off about 600 taps.  I guess it's a good problem to have....

Just curious as to how big your operation is? Did you plant Sugar Maples? I assume it's a PVC system?

PWM and CON with all time Feb highs, MWN was already mentioned for their all time winter high.

NH likely broke their state Feb record (looks like the CWSU in ASH last year at 73 was the previous). ME likely has broken the state record as well with SFM getting up to at least 74.

This is daily EPO data

2018 02 16 -101.15
2018 02 17 -142.52
2018 02 18 -182.21
2018 02 19 -217.15

Current says it's -210 (positive correlation)

In 2015 Jan. Feb. we set all kinds of record low 500mb and 850 temps yet no barrage of  this is things to come posts , tweets were around? The world has gone crazy, yes the climate is warming, yes this has happened before, no we are not all going to be killed off.

It's the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fine

Exactly.  People are so dramatic.   Sometimes it gets very mild in the winter...sometimes record breaking warm.   Everything is a catastrophe to the warministas...end of times incoming cuz it's upper 60's and low 70's in Feb.

Give me a break.  I'm with ya Ginx.

there were a lot of records broken today for sure, all timers but we have seen all timers records fall in either direction, it happens. To correlate record soundings with climate change, yea not so sure about that, I mean just look at the 850 low records in the last 3 years, climate change?

I mean there is a difference between Feb 2015 mirroring something that happened in Feb 1934, and Feb 2018 breaking records that happened in Feb 2017.

I would say the hysteria is because of the lopsidedness of it. You can go down the list of statistics and see how they are all heavily warm biased. This winter was effectively 13 days long. Take them out and it has been a blow torch of a winter.

like saying take out the 13 hot Days in July 12 and it would have been a cold summer

I'm not sure, But the water will go right to the top of the tree, Met herb could answer it though, Lol, Just found this.

This is what an old timer told me 30 or so years ago:

Wind out of the North, the sap Cometh Forth
Wind out of the East, the sap runs the Least
Wind out of the South, there is a Drought
Wind out of the West, the sap runs the Best

Are you sure Ginx didn’t uncover that in an old scroll?

is there? I mean you set 2nd highest Min temps in Portland Jan 12 beating 2017 on the same day but still didn't beat 1885. I don't think records being broken one year apart indicate any sort of pattern or climate change.

South winds finally moved the needle in Augusta - up 9° the past hour to 53 at 3 PM.  Also noted NYC at 77, for a new monthly record - old one was 75, reached in 1930 and 1985.

Edit:  Since AGW modeling/theory includes more extremes (in both directions, though more warmer than colder), both the current blast and Feb. 2015 fit in.  I thought it interesting that the Farmington co-op established 2 all-time coldest months in a 12-month period, March 2014 and February 2015, the latter followed 10 months after by their mildest December.
