Long time lurker, first-time poster...

We got off to a slow start but are getting smoked now in Cambridge.

Been a weenie from afar for a few years now, having some skin in the game is much more enjoyable than watching things unfold from St. Petersburg, FL... If that isn't a sickness I don't know what is. Cheers on today all, and thank you for the knowledge I'm accumulating along the way!

Welcome, fellow Bostonian(almost) poster!

Anyone have a report from Newport... bummed I'm not at home for this one.  Got about 7" so far in Westbury on Long Island, but getting a little subsidence now, and looking in envy at the radar returns in RI.

not sure about in newport (some reports of mixing early on ) but in portsmouth we have been S+ for about 4 hours , I'm possible to measure but guessing 8" give or take

Just checking in for the first time this morning. Is Taunton mixing? Latest report says freezing fog. That would be a major bust as they are forecast for 12-18"

No they are getting destroyed...the FZFG ob often comes from ASOS when it gets caked with snow or blowing snow so the precip sensor craps out...it happens pretty frequently at ORH airport too up on the hill where it's windy.

Thanks.. I see now that Plymouth and New Bedford are all snow too. So the line is around the canal as expected?

Does anyone know when the snow is going to quit near Tolland? My phone is getting blown up from maintenance workers from the school I teach at about when they can go in and clean up. Thanks in advance!

As far as right now, It's starting to lighten up slightly compared to a couple hours ago. You can hear the wind roaring above.

That band over NW CT up into W MA is absolutely filthy... hope it pivots east nice and slow.

I am quite shocked at how far west that band has moved. It's always so tough to gauge that. I know there is a good amount of research that exists on what methods can be used to help forecast these things and I would like to explore them further. I know from reading here models tend to have a bias and are generally too far SE with the banding...so if you go by that, given where models had best fronto/VV's it would make sense for the banding to be where it is...but the question is how far of a bias do they have?

I wonder if there is some average distance away from the H7 low where the banding will usually be...maybe it depends on strength of the low, orientation of it, etc?
