michsnowfreak Posted December 30, 2017 Share Posted December 30, 2017 Got 0.7" of sugar rime snow last night. Few flurries floating around today but that should be a wrap on December. Finished with 23.3" of snow imby, what a great month, and kind of unexpected at that. DTW finished with 22.5" which ties for the 5th snowiest December on record. Went downtown Detroit last night as I had not been down to enjoy the Christmas stuff this year (been so busy!). It was absolutely perfect with the sugary snow falling, plenty of snow on the ground, and everyone in a good mood. Detroit sure has come a long way! It was an awesome snow for us. Started as pixie then ripped big fluffy flakes, nickle size. No wind. Looked like someone was shaking a giant ripped down pillow in the sky. It's about damn time! And yes it has been so dang cold outside, that I am in an apartment building with super-insulating blinds and even still you can just tell that something is "wrong" outside, like, you can just FEEL the contrast "radiating" through. -20 is serious business.
